I didn't think the metal detectors slowed things down much, we went right on through them. What slowed it down a lot was a couple things, bag checks, ticket scans, and everyone showing up right before game time. The first game with a lot of new people tends be slow since a lot of folks aren't prepared and normally for a Saturday game entrance times are a little more spread out.
It was weird because we had no bags so they sent us to a new line created for that off to the right and it was pretty slow too. But you’re right, we basically are used to walking in around 15 minutes ahead game time-pretty much takes less than 5 minutes normally. Not exactly sure how that plays out going forward.

Insert obligatory old man rant about electronic tickets always causing delays with scanning and having random problems you don't have with paper

I’m wondering if going more towards the horseshoe is that answer..

The horseshoe entrance was very long, too. It seemed like the people checking bags and running the metal detectors were not organized or trained well. It was everyone's first day with the new system. Hopefully they'll get some kinks worked out. I've never missed opening kickoff and missed the first 4 minutes of the game last night.

They are gonna have to figure out this new addition of metal detectors. Took at least 4 times as long to get in. Whether it’s more scanners, more detectors, more help. Whatever. The attendance is only going to be higher.
It also seemed like traffic was heavier and slower than normal, especially on Lincoln Ave. Maybe that’s a Friday issue or maybe our timing was off from past games?

Over the course of the season, I really think the three-headed "monster" at RB is going to be a major benefit. All three have unique strengths and provide a different look to defenses. Plus, having three RBs will keep everyone fresh and reduce wear over the course of a long season.

The only downside is trying to keep everyone happy with the number of touches, but I would imagine different games will be better for different skill sets.

If I remember correctly, Burmeister said the officiating crew was from the MAC. Getting used to the speed and physicality of the Big Ten along with the big stadium atmosphere didn't just impact Western Illinois.
I agree. I said the same thing while watching. Refs are probably rusty, too.

What's too bad is they could have had a "4 horsemen" thing but the 4th guy decided he'd rather be 4th string at Georgia.
