Illinois 68, Michigan 53 Postgame

You said, "against ANY pressure D". That has been proven to be erroneous. There was no assumption to make.
Ok, we disagree anyways many on here see exactly what I see (god bless DMW) but he is not a ball handler (certainly for long stretches) Curbello would really help.

I agree, the Monte show needs to end. Great guy but he gets exposed game in and game out. Why BU plays him over the Podz is amazing. We need to get the youth worked in as Monte is gone after this year and they need experience
Couldn’t disagree more Williams seem to always make a play at the end of a game. He makes a three or makes a defensive play. He brings intensity every night. I hope Podz and Goode learn from him

Most likely heavily weighted to efficiency. Trent has a worse FG% and 3pt% than both Plummer and Grandison (as well as worse TS% and eFG%) and a higher turnover %. He also averages fewer pts on a per minute or per possession basis than either.

That being said, he is being asked to do a lot more and play a lot more minutes than either. He's taking a lot of bad shots because he's often the fall back option when things aren't clicking. He doesn't have the luxury to pass up contested shots in the way Plummer and Grandison often do. Add in that advanced metrics are not great at quantifying individual defense, where Trent is clearly better than Plummer and Grandison. I agree that Trent is more valuable than Plummer and Grandison (who are also both great!)
In conference games Trent is better than Plummer in both fg% and 3 pt%. Plummer is .297 from three in conference games. Conference games much more comparative stat. Am really happy to see both taking it to the rim but seems more like lack of confidence in 3 pt shooting.

I think this narrative is biased from the last couple games. DeMonte leads the team in assists and has fewer turnovers than any of the other regular rotation players.

Howard in the postgame:
“He’s not just big,” Michigan coach Juwan Howard said of Cockburn. “He’s a talent. He’s worked on his game. He does a really good job of finishing in the paint. I started thinking about, ‘You know what, Jace, let me borrow that jersey because I have one more year left of eligibility.”
Now, Juwan was a fine player in his Michigan days. I don't deny that, but he wouldn't have wanted any part of Kofi. As a rule, Deon typically got the better of him. Never saw the lad play beyond Michigan, but in college he would not have been able to stop Kofi.

Coward is one of those types that, even in seeming to give someone a compliment, inevitably ends up talking about / stroking himself. There’s terms for that/him, but this is (somewhat) a family site so I’ll refrain from using them.

Absolutely. We could have beat them by more lol. Coulda shoulda woulda.
Well hell yes...and I guarantee it will be different in Ann Arbor....but that is almost a 100% probability. They may even win...we will see. But whatever happens, last year's outcome in Ann Arbor and the decision to duck the rematch in Champaign, define "Michigan men"....and there is not a thing admirable about that definition....and it will never change.

My fellow B1G parishioner's , what we saw Mr. Coward do last year in refusing to play all the games was a sin against us all.....To this day he has not asked for forgiveness , nor will he ever ask for forgiveness.........He has a rotten heart to the core , as he has sinned again by sidestepping 2 games against ranked opponents this year ......We must , I say , we MUST separate ourselves from him-uh , we must pray for him-uh , and we must ask the Ancients to take his cowardly carbon unit far far away..........

He is not qualified to be a leader of young scUM men who are very impressionable and might think of him as a deity .......

LET US PRAY.....................................................

Need to play Damonte and let him play his game; we can't force him into a role we need that he's just not capable of filling. Lock down D, solid passer, and the occasional (very) shot. When Damonte pulls up to take a shot our entire section is pulling for him... and then he passes. =) You guys do that too?

One positive of the game was Plummer driving all the way to the basket in the second half when Michigan was running him off the three point line. The first half he’d take the pull-up jumper, which is a low percentage shot and less likely to draw the foil.

I guess he’s a real swashbuckler…

Too much MI speed and quickness. Sometimes, no matter how much one hustles, it doesn't make you quicker or faster than the opposing player.
They're quick, sure, but we sure did see a lot of instances of orange and blue players being passive spectators. It wasn't all just Michigan's team speed.

Not disputing the general idea that you draw more fouls by driving to the rim but it's funny that the first points of the game were because he got fouled on a midrange junper.
