MSU was fouling the whole game and we weren’t getting any calls. Sissoko especially with the over the backs. Was really annoying!

Foul Shooting
Illinois. 18 - 22
MSU. 5 - 7

Fouls
Illinois. 10
MSU. 15

Please.... PLEASE let the officiating schtick go.

Do the refs miss calls? Absolutely. There were 130+ possessions in the game. They're going to miss some. Some won't go out way, some will. Tonight, the disparity was in our favor.

The fact is that we won't be three and made 13 more free throws(and had Walker saddled with foul trouble)....let's be pleased with the outcome.

How good is MSU. I am having a hard time judging them. They don’t have a great record and their last 6 games other than @NW they have played well.

This win will be a good win at the end of the season. To me they are in the top half but not sure where to rank them in my head.
Same team that curb stomped Baylor a month ago. They're still talented and very dangerous.

Thank you for this. So many Illinois fans treat Coleman as some erratic player who’s a net neutral to this team when in reality he’s a massive net positive every night and very arguably our most important player.
He elevates the level of play of the other four players no matter who they are when he is in.
Not saying he's MJ 2.0 but he has a similar effect on our team, IMO

My question is how God awful is Dain in practice to not get any tick, even when we're short three guys?

I would have thought that BU would have put him in there just to eat up some minutes. At full strength, he shouldn't see the court, but guys being sick, injured, suspended and still nothing. It has to be pretty unsightly.
I have a suspicion he didn't help his cause on a wide open 3. Didn't even put his hands up and a TO from Brad came real quick.

I’m pleased with the win, never said I wasn’t.

Warriors.
Agreed. This is why I think the Illini can go on a nice run here with convincing victories. They're conditioned very well both physically and mentally. They play very well together. Hansberry and Nico will get healthy and be solid contributors while DLG gets more minutes and will show flashes of aweness.

I think they can get to 17 - 3 going into Columbus, who can be beaten at home.

We took MSUs #8 spot on Torvik. Also #8 on Evan Miya. Now Top 10 in all the major stat rankings. This was a good win.
In the end, this should be a very good win. With the way Spartan played tonight, MSU can go on a roll here with their schedule coming up. They should be stacking up the wins, which will make this win very impressive, imo.

Goode has shot 37 percent his first year, 42 last year and 40 this year. He has shot the 3 well here. He also has good plus minus numbers because his shooting spreads the floor and opens up Domask’s game. He has a higher box plus minus than Domask Guerrier and Harmon in fact.

Goode minutes need to go DOWN dramatically. His +/- has to be atrocious. He hasn't shot the ball well in his entire tenure at Illinois. To be shooting 64% from the charity stripe is embarrassing.
Luke Goode, the guy shooting >40% from 3 on the year…hasn’t shot the ball well in his entire tenure at Illinois?

What else do you have for us tonight?

Izzo sounds like he’s due to retire.
Listen to a press conference. Or an interview, when he doesn't skip them. He says things a person that despises coaching the game would say. His doubling down on dismissing analytics (and basic stats?) is the opposite of an agile mind.

Brad seemed mad at the end of the game.
With 9 seconds left the refs went to the Illinois bench and told them to calm #4 down. (I was behind the bench) I guess Harmon was getting mouthy with one of the MSU players. At that point in the game it was very foolish of him and Brad and the other coaches all jumped up and yelled at Harmon. He walked right up to coach Underwood for a quick earful and the coach patted him on the back. Right after that Goode missed his FT. I'm sure he was very ticked about that last 9 seconds. He'll get over it tho.

How is Goode a 64% FT shooter? Love this team regardless of the heart murmurs
That's on ESPN or your app. On the U of I stats page, he's 9 for15 for 60% this season, so even worse. On the other hand, Luke did a great job to control the ball and grab it with two hands in traffic and quickly get it up around his shoulders on that play where he definitely earned that 1-and-1 FT that he missed late in the game. I immediately forgave his nerves at the FT line for his awesome hustle and 6 important rebounds. He has great shooting technique, so he just needs more reps late in games to calm those nerves. Keep up the great job Luke!

He's literally a better free throw shooter than Goode.
Good point, yet Goode's 60.0% is less than 10% behind Rodgers 69.6% (by U of I season stats), so I expect Luke to catch Ty on FT % by season's end. Rodgers is doing awesome from the line this year (considering his past), so I want him to keep it up. Goode can realistically get up near 80%, if he continues to rebound like a champ and attempt rebound shots, where he is likely to draw fouls and get FTs.
