Illinois 72, Nebraska 66 POSTGAME

TF, LB and KN have all had big production nights, all return. Ayo already in the mix, we know MS potential. Obvious needs that have been rehashed here time after time, but if and that is a big IF we address those needs this offseason, this can be a tournament team as soon as next year.

That is a nice win! Mark Smith had an ok game. Nice to see him make some shots. Big Ft's to seal it. Tejon Lucas needs to suck it up and make some ft's. This team is closer than it appears. Hopefully we recruit some athletic size between now and next year. Way to fight Illini and not lay down!!!

Really nice win for our guys. Black was a beast. Nice to see Smith have a good game. Hopefully it starts something. Wish Tejon could learn to hit free throws. He is one tough little dude.

Leron was NBA today.

Good win by the team. Really happy to see them fight today

As everyone is saying, very happy with this win. This is what I want to see out of the boys going into next year. Hopefully we can play well these next two games. I will be satisfied with a Rutgers win, and I will be pretty happy with a Rutgers win and a Round 1 win in the B1G tourney.

Got home late today; just finished watching. Very, very nice. So happy to see the guys get a win in front of the home crowd. It's been a rugged season, but overall, I like the way we are playing. I think we are on to something, and, with some more horses, we will be back where we belong soon.

If you take out the airball 3, overall, MS best BIG game to date.

Well, not so much.
Makes a big 3 after being anonymous.
Then fumbles the ball away.
Then commits a foul.
Then commits another foul.
Shoots a beyond-3 point arc airball.

He will be a lot better player next year and beyond, but that airball was really stupid. Winning teams and winning players just don't make those kind of mistakes.

You forgot- fed LB down low at crucial time and got 4th foul on Roby

Always what it's for every team every year, but can't help but think, roster flaws and all this team should be 7-8 in conf.

Good fight! Lack of position talent didnā€™t hurt us in this one. One thing I have to give to BU is that the team has fought and clawed in all but 3 games this year. That is a reflection of a new culture being born!

Which was the third no-effort loss this year? At Wisconsin and vs. Penn St. for sure, can't remember a third bust of a performance though. Not to say there wasn't one, just cannot remember...

Totally understand the negative microscope on MS, fairly or unfairly he has underwhelmed this year. BUT, many factors going against him; to me he really seems like a good kid who has kept a positive attitude despite the box scores. I appreciate his demeanor and root hard for him because of it.

To pick on this and that is questionable as we could do that to each player on any given day. He had a Plus game today, NO QASKED!

With his hype he essentially had nowhere to go but down and I get that, however; I for one am going to support the kid to the nth degree because he really seems to be a good and modest kid.

Mark Smith, I believe in you, gain your swagger and make us all believers!

Main reason we win tonight? We actually held an opponent under 70 pts.

Great win Illini.....shot well, rebounded well and fought back after falling behind 52-47...I thought here we go again but the Illini showed a lot of heart and effort...the one loose ball with with all the Illini on the floor fighting and scratching showed me that we could win this game...

LB was in beast mode and was without a doubt was the best player on the court tonight....

GREAT GREAT WIN.

It will come. The guys have not quit! As fans, we should not either & continue to look forward. Only posted the record as we are finally not the last team listed in the conference.

Glad you were able to put it out of your memory but it was both of the Wisconsin gamesšŸ˜€

In the land of the Nittany Lion
Miles said something to the effect of Illinois playing well for a team with nothing to play for.

What?

Other than the fact that every game is something to play for, our guys have respectability to play for.
