Still think Groce's schemes have a ways to go offensively (I know, crazy to read that after the shooting performance we just had) because outside of Mav inside, we have no way to get buckets around the hoop off the dribble or consistently off the pass (TJL has DRASTICALLY improved our offense in this area, praise be). I will say it is incredible what TJL has done for our defense and a good sign should Groce be retained that we are playing high level defense again without Nnanna guarding 3 positions.

Go illini.

TJL covers and re-covers on d and you get the feeling it's contagious.

We should not forget that Leron probably played the best game of his career tonight.

As great as MH undoubtedly was, Mav had a great game we should all be talking about... 4 assists for the big guy in additional to a good game scoring and rebounding. Our ability to run the offense through him is huge to opening things up

I agree Maverick was absolutely stellar tonight on both ends. Black played very very well too. Nichols and Lucas made some young mistakes but offset them with other huge plays.

Bridges is damn good, but not as good as he thinks he is. Izzo just destroying him on the sideline. That said, that MSU team is thin talent wise and they are still making the most of it. They easily could have lost by 15, but made great plays all through the 2nd half.

Remarkable turnaround for this team - the fight is back!

Congrats to the seniors - hoping they can win a few more and sneak in the tourney.

It's amazing how well the rest of the team moves off the ball with TJL at the point. Maybe it's just overall confidence. Or room to run because his guy has to be beyond the Ark and guard him. Buy man its fun to watch.

...and there was a blow-hard in the game thread that said "This team wants to lose this game". After watching Malcolm's post game interview, I'm pretty sure that this team did NOT want to lose this game. Great effort from start to finish, with no give up at any time, no matter what. We need this same effort on the road this weekend. Can't let up just because they are at the bottom of the league. Hopefully, we can sour their senior day!

Jerk's the better word. Guy wants Groce fired so he comes on whining about everything (I laughed when we had the gall to miss a few shots at the start of the 2nd and that became "infuriating" to him) and openly rooting for these players to lose on their senior night. Hope he enjoys his night.

Holy cats, that immediately gets placed among my all-time favorite Illini moments. Thanks for posting, Dan.

Only 7 Illini turnovers. Very, very solid indeed. Hats off to Leron Black and of course Malcolm and Mav and indeed all the players. Great team win.

I remember looking up at the board at one point late in the 2nd half to see we had 14 assists and 7 TOs vs MSU with 7 assists and 14 TOs. Really good defensive effort.

I almost didn't go to this game for some reason but MAN am I glad I went. Crowd was loud for almost the whole game and REALLY loud at the end. Was awesome to be apart of. That's what Illinois home games are supposed to be like!

Driving back home after the game. Electric scene in the AH tonight. Haven't heard the home crowd this loud for a game in a long time, since maybe the IU win in 2013. Gutty W. Proud of the seniors, especially MH. Two more wins and I think we're in the Dance at long last.

"A lot, John. A lot."

That did it for me. This made me choke up. We can lay on our backs and type on this board, but man did that really hit me.

Congrats, boys. Seriously. Revel in this senior night win.

I'll remember that Malcolm interview for a loooooong time.
