Some ugly shooting but the main takeaway for me is the turnovers, or finally the lack thereof, combined with the willingness to pass the ball (over-willingness to some extent). We need guys to be more aggressive taking the ball to the basket, but we had essentially ~20 assists to 4-5 TOs (3 happened in the last ~2:30, so garbage time) and a lot of crisp passes from all over the court. Gives an idea of what this team can be and is willing to be, and we won't always shoot that bad moving forward.

Also just a major shout out to Coleman and glad he's getting his due tonight. It is so unique to have your center be the primary trap guy in the back court and be capable of flipping from that pressure into either post D or instead pick up the guard receiving the pass if the press is broken. Underwood must've had a lot of fun this summer cooking up his pressing scheme with Coleman at its center (heh). He's gonna fly up draft boards if he keeps playing like a lankier Draymond that can occasionally knockdown a step-back triple.

I know we’ve thought this beforelt in and night out. I really hope so. Happy for him tonight. Looked confident and having fun.
Remembering Dave Sholz from many years ago He had a turnaround jump shot and rarely missed it. If Hawkins had that sort of shot going tonight, he would have scored several more points.

I screwed up. I did not take my own advice. I started to read the game thread. After about 7 pages, for my sanity, I had to quit. Too much negativity and hot takes! Some of you need a little more positivity in your life! View attachment 21814

The smile says it all!
Great accomplishment by Coleman…

He may or may not get another T-D, but this game should be a huge confidence booster for him going forward.

He could have have scored 25-30 tonight had he recognized how soft the defense was playing behind him. I expect he’ll adjust after he sees the tape.

Awesome game tonight, but it’s almost scary to think what he’s capable of if he ever goes into beast mode!

Benny Williams finishes with six fouls. SIX. In NCAA play. LOL.
So how does that work? A player is disqualified after 5 fouls but we had the advantage driving toward the basket. Does the rule require a break in the action before disqualification?

This team is legit. It's long, deep, athletic, and can shoot. If we continue to gel we will be a tough out come March. In my experience playing a zone can be tough, and I think we learned and adapted well and I think we saw what worked.
Coleman was great tonight obviously, but I felt he could've (should've?) probably had another 5-10 points if I was nitpicking. There were times he got the ball in the middle, which we know is a great way to break down/beat a zone, and didn't even look to score from 8-12 ft. Fam, you're 7 ft and bouncy... you probably don't need to even put the ball on the floor and if you have to you got that skill too! I loved some of the hook and put shots he took, take more in there big dawg! Perhaps it was a bit of a perspective issue on TV and he/the lane wasn't as open as it appeared.
I'm super high on Jayden. He's a dog who just has a knack for playing well, being in the right spot, a consistent scorer, and a big shot maker. I see him as an absolute stud guard in the B1G for a few years, at the minimum!
TSJ does it all, obviously. He's the dude out there and you can tell he LOVES the competition. Dain is a monster. He should've had a couple other baskets tonight but I felt like he kinda just got unlucky to be honest! Poor man's Olajuwon, which almost seems sacrilege as he's a top 3 player ever for me.

Excited for the journey this year! ILL
