And that's the Badger club I grew up watching and loving. (That damned Bo Ryan.) I would never have guessed Wisconsin could actually compete at a national level like they did.
I loved them having Steve Yoder as their coach.......pretty much a win, IIRC.............

From a retired college basketball official acquaintance of mine. NOTE- He never called Big 10 games:

“Your question is not easy to answer. You are assuming there are specific rules that govern every possible scenario, and there isn’t.

“I have not seen the replay, but to your point, Illinois was not out of line for standing anywhere on the court. That is not an official deadball timeout, and honestly, it sounds as if the officials should have been involved sooner.

“If the Wisconsin coach made contact with an Illini player, and if I had seen it, I would have run him. Would not have mattered if it was the start of the game or the last seconds. Now, that is me. Yes, some officials would not do that if the outcome was still in question. A coach never touches a player. Period. Especially an opposing player.

“You said a double technical was called. As you have presented it, I don’t understand why the Illini player was assessed a Technical, other than if the official did not want this situation to dictate the outcome. Double technicals are typically left for players.

“Finally, if there was contact, expect Illini coaches to send in the tape with their review. At a minimum, the Wisconsin coach will be suspended for a game and most likely receive an undisclosed fine.”

Sounds like a reasonable take. Expect B10 office to do nothing as a result..

I can't see the replay clearly. Can someone tell me why Belo gets that close in the first place? Doesn't he walk towards the bench,is someone pushing him closer towards their player's or coach? Just curious not stating anything other than my view was obstructed. I was wondering if Belo just stayed away maybe nothing happens. Can someone straighten me out? Just asking.
Its a bit hard to see the details - but it looks like Belo is hanging around on the outside of the huddle and then you can see him move suddenly to the camera's right -as if pushed. That could have been Davision (although I didn't see Belo grab his jewels in pain - so maybe not). But clearly their idiot coach was saying something that Belo didn't like and DMW took offense to. The ref got it wrong in a wuss out technical on both sides call. They should have been over there already not allowing a coaching huddle.

The baseline inbound play is a novelty and won't work long term. Trent slipped on one and it was game over. Players often break to the sideline which puts them in perfect position to get trapped.

Just set some picks and get people open in the middle of the court. Though I did like when Grandison took off before the ref handed us the ball and the announcer acted like it was a false start.
Here’s a novel idea, grab the ball once it goes through the net and quickly get it in before the defense has a chance to set up. It was driving me nuts. We would throw the ball to the ref and walk to our positions.

I’m not normally pro-flop, but if Tucker pushed Curbelo out of the illegal huddle as the video suggests (but doesn’t really confirm), I would’ve loved a full soccer flop from Curbelo with a limp back to the bench. Get Tucker suspended.

Or they could at least use some picks to get people open.

That just didn't sound right... that between 1988 and 2005 we never beat them 3 straight in the regular season. So I checked your work and you're right! Unbelievable!!

Yeah. There's a great sports reference page out there that lists the series history between different schools. And like I pointed out there were teams in those intervening years that did but the 3rd games were played in the B1G tournament and thus don't count.

Yeah. The league is frequently and sometimes unjustly a punching bag here, but they do little to inspire confidence. Until they show some beginnings of spine, they get no benefit of the doubt.

They ought to do something in view of us plebs. If they don't, they should expect to be maligned and blamed for the shortcomings we see every week.

Lucky thing this didn’t escalate into the crowd. Can you imagine the cardboard carnage???

My take on the end of the game sideline theatrics will be an unpopular one on here. Yes, Curbelo had the “right” to be where he was, but there was no real reason for him to be there — and it was ill-advised gamesmanship at that point of the game under with that game situation. We all know that refs don’t always get things right, so why put you and your team in a situation where a wrong call penalizes you and potentially changes the outcome of the game. If that had happened, an apology sometime after the game by the league would be empty if an Illinois L had been the game result. Further, I had no problem with the double technical being used to regain control and not penalize anyone.

Having said that, if the Wisky coach said anything to Belo or DMW, or pushed either than he was certainly in the wrong and must be punished. From the clips that were posted, I couldn’t tell if that was the case. And if those were only angles refs could have looked at, I’m not sure if they would have been able to overturn any kind of initial call if one had been made initially that penalized only Illinois.

I give credit to DMW for standing up for Curbelo. I do wish DMW had just ushered Curbelo out of there a la Grandy seconds later, but fully admit that not knowing exactly what happened to Belo or what was said by Wisky coach I can’t fault DMW for what he did.

There are rare cases when I want some of what Kenpom is smoking. Houston being ahead of us is horrendous.

All it smokes is data. KenPom is simply an advanced computer program, . Not people voting, it is what it is. Generally very accurate, has a bias towards teams like Wiscy which are efficient. Looking at it now, we are 6 behind Suckeyes west 5 and not Suckeyes east 7.

GO ILLINI!

You and I and Dakich may be in the minority but I think Curbelo is a strong plus asset. Without Ayo, Curbelo is the only guard creating any offense.
Got my vote. Watching him grown by the week. Lots more confidence and adding skills to his game as experience is a teacher for those seeking to learn.

Maybe that's why we have won 9 out of 10 since Jake was inserted into the starting lineup.
Just going off memory here, but Grandison's only "poor" performance may have been the 1st Nebraska game. I view him in the Jack Ingram mold, makes the good sound fundamental play, and can hit a clutch shot or two.

And I think he can guard Wagner!

For those interested, there is a game replay today at 1:00pm eastern, on ESPNU.
I watched the replay this morning and Davison is a real d**khead player...numerous jabs , elbows and the hook on kofi , with davison pointing to Kofi ,like Kofi fouled HIM , is the epitome of his career.....hope he doesn't come back next year, just so the game can be rid of his knucklehead play.....

Grandison is 19 out of 20 from the FT line? That's a cool stat I didn't know. Especially with all the FT woes we've gone through this year.
Yes....at the end of a close game...if we're shooting free throws.....I want either Grandson, TF or DMW on the line ....everyone else.....eh not so much
