Tough win, HORRIBLE officiating at the end, it looked like the officials had $ on the game.

On to the next!
The crazy thing is that Doug Sirmons (one of today's refs) is considered one of the best refs in college basketball. He reffed the National Championship last year and has reffed in multiple Final Fours. Whatever those final 3 minutes were, he's one of the last people you'd expect to be on a crew making ridiculous calls. Just a bizarre ending to the game. I thought the refs were pretty decent for most of the night, and then they must've accidently drank one of the Iowa townie's moonshine jugs instead of their water bottle. I mean they went off the rails fast

Illinois has the #1 defensive efficiency in the country since the Nebraska game.

Good point. Last year 16/18 Big 10 teams finished in the top 75 so yeah guess it’s doubtful Iowa is that bad. I was thinking they needed to stay top 50.
Losing on the road to Purdue and Indiana won’t hurt them too bad on the NET. They aren’t supposed to win those games. That said, in this league, penciling anything as a win or loss is a fools errand.

How many had Wisconsin over Michigan in Ann Arbor on their bingo card yesterday?

Iowa has a good team and are well coached. They should make the tournament.

Pretty good game until the last 8 minutes or so where the defense gave up way too many easy baskets and the offense went into a Weber-like stall.

Good game Wagler.

Refs really need to change that hook and hold garbage. If it’s a foul just call it a common foul. No technical and the ball. That’s a terrible rule. Could have been a killer if Sturtz had made that uncontested bunny.
100%

THIS was the game they proved it. Showed up early and just locked them up. They came with a run late and we didn’t always have the best lineups there for a while but this is what I want from them every game, especially Kylan.
Kylan was terrific tonight on both sides of the floor. Just a great all-around game from him. Keaton, what more can you say? Absolutely fantastic. Andrej was absolutely insane in the 1st half- just took over the game. Mirk had some great boards, Big Z once again changed the game defensively when he was in the game and made some big 3s. Just a great team game getting a huge win on the road.

And by the way how nice is it to have two guys in Wagler and Davis shooting over 40% from 3 this year, and Big Z right behind at 38%? Having shooters who can efficiently hit the three just opens up the floor so much more.

I will say. Despite giving up a good sized lead, we looked pretty great most of the time. Defensively and offensively.

Wagner is just incredible. I trust him with the ball in his hand more than almost anyone on the court.

Big Z > Tomi right now.

Loved the penetration and layups by Stoya, Boswell, etc. instead of settling for more 3s

Clearly, we were lucky to get the win since the announcers mentioned 37 times how all of the Iowa players were sick. While I’m not thrilled with relinquishing the big lead, there was a lot to like about the way we showed up, played as a team, and persevered through some late game adversity. Beat a ranked conference foe on the road and that is never easy!
I will add that I never sensed any panic in the Illini

Can't add much that hasn't been said but hopefully we don't bring the flu back from Iowa

Not sure what is going on with T this season. Seems more mechanical, not hitting the over the shoulders hot from close. Don't think it is the new players.
