Illinois 76, Nebraska 50 Postgame

Effort. Teamwork. Poise. Body language. BALL MOVEMENT. These things have been night and day from the Northwestern to Wisconsin and tonight. Keep those things up, cut down the careless turnovers and poor 3 point shot selection and we got something going into the second half of the B10 season!

Sorry to do this, but it is very frustrating and necessary. I'm going to keep harping on this issue until the league somehow takes notice, which I hope is somehow during my lifetime.

See what happens when the stripes call fouls at a reasonable clip? 14 fouls called in the second half vs 24 in the first. Talented teams are able to outplay the less talented team BY PLAYING BASKETBALL instead of constant breaks in the flow of the game and standing watching free throws being shot. It really is a pretty simple concept. Only call obvious fouls that give one player an advantage over the other player. It's so much more enjoyable to watch! Please do something B10!

Great win! Great response after a crappy December basketball - wise.

Loved the offense tonight. Especially all the movement and cutting. Nice to see them continuing the work from Wisconsin. And great leadership shown by TSJ throughout. This is looking like his team of late.

But my favorite part of tonight was the gritty effort and the multiple responses from the Illini when Nebraska started going on a run. They showed a lot of resilience, and that gives a team confidence.

Nice to see the FIGHT in the Fighting Illini! Shannon is a beast and I'm loving his lead by example. The fight in our freshmen is refreshing. This is how you win when shots aren't falling. Looking more like we all expected. Looking forward to Friday night!

Haha. Had most of it typed up in a game thread reply and then realized I might as well put it here instead!

Nice win against a pesky Nebraska. Let’s build on it at home. Both Mich st and us trending up.
I said this in the pregame thread, but this win was SO important to establish actual momentum going into these next three … a win vs. MSU at home has me feeling REALLY good going to Minnesota and then hosting IU. One game at a time and all, but we could be on a 5-game winning streak soon if we play like tonight.

And tonight got me to buy back in!! Great effort.
