What a satisfying win..........Pistons firing on all cylinders............

elite defense............shut down defense...........ball hawking defense............
great ball movement on offense......finding the open man......................
TSJ was great all game long , but his first half set the tone for the game...............

I hate to bring it up but...............addition by subtraction might have a small part to this renaissance of TEAM PLAY by the Illinois.....noit having someone dribbling at the top of the key for 4-5 seconds BEFORE we start the offense has hindered our flow and pace.....Now we are moving the ball quickly and finding the open man resulting in a BETTER shot than games past.....
Not ragging on anyone , but the results speak for themselves and i really think getting Luke back soon will allow us to have a better rotation and the added depth along with Luke's elite shooting should have opposing coaches worried on how to stop us.......

BU on the radio interview..........................

elite D.......7 blocks....................diving on the floor
4-5 deflections ....getting back to our culture
game plan was to hold them to under 3 three pointers ,,,,,they got 4
we had Ty guarding all 5 positions from 1-5
RJ can take us to a next level
it's not the speed with which you play or speed when you shoot , but the quality of our shots was great

here's hoping we can get back to .500 with a win against the izzo-zero's later on this week and regain our deserved position in the top 25..........

I know Mayer hit a few big three's to extend the lead, doing it while playing within the offense. I will take that Mayer, because he made some nice defensive plays, too. Having typed this, he also took several "hero-ball" type shots and played horrible defense. Again, a Jekyll and Hyde metaphor, I just made.

I agree with poster "bergd91." Sit Mayer on the bench. Proof? As he typed, the Illini went on a 17 - 1 run after Mayer's benching. Also, I believe the Illini built their 1st half lead without Mayer.

Play him in spots. That's where he's most effective. RJ had some mishaps today, but he's more confident which translated into him hitting some big shots and making some big hustle plays. RJ can handle it, I believe. It doesn't bother me as much if RJ misses some shots, just keep your head up and as you proved today, keep shooting because they will fall.

I also think Goode will help this team immensely. I can see it now.

Coach Brad is one of the best in the business at modifying his game plan and coaching style to maximize his teams' chances to win. Switch everything defense is causing too many lapses? Modify it effectively and move on.Freshman are bringing outstanding effort to the floor? Get them more minutes. Offense is stagnant? Reward those who are moving with purpose and finding an open shooter. Screaming at players is counterproductive? Lean more on teaching and encouraging. He is getting this team to peak at the right time. Great work by him and his staff. Players are now definitely buying in and holding themselves and each other accountable.

Listening to BU's press conference. Say what you want about him as a coach, the sideline demeanor, etc, etc. But I gotta hand it to the guy hanging in there when the going got tough. He could have thrown in the towel and let the team bury themselves. It was headed that direction. Not saying we are fully back after two games, but the eye test is being passed as opposed to the PSU/Mizzou/Alabama A&M/Northwestern/Skyy stretch. Whatever he said after the Northwestern debacle, kudos. I'm impressed with the response this week. He stuck with these guys and he and the staff deserve credit for keeping them together.

I don't care if Nebby isn't good at basketball. A conference road win is a conference road win.

We looked sluggish early but I thought Rodgers came in and sparked us. It really felt like he was diving after every loose ball tonight.

Our demise may have (hopefully) been greatly exaggerated.
Nebby ain't awful. Almost got Purdue at home (65-62).

So happy for team. 8-29 from 3pt land won't beat any good team. Hawkins and MMayer 2-12. Shannon 2 for 7. Thank goodness for 13 steals!
Ty Rodgers and Epps great games.
While id rather shoot better....tonight we couldve beat a lot of teams with our defensive effort and efficiency from 2. Who on our schedule is 26 points better than nebby on average? per kenpom the biggest expected margin of victory theyd be expected to give up is like 14 (shrug)

That was so much fun, and such a relief with going into that house of horrors for us. More of that please!!

-Nebraska doubled on the post catch nearly every time. Illinois shredded it by moving the ball. Hoiberg never adjusted.

I get the urge to try something new, but it was obvious by halfway through the first half that Nebraska doubling the post was creating massive driving lanes and .......... they decided to keep doing it.

Means absolutely nothing but I miss the days where everyone wore the same color shoes and seems like 3-4 of the boys wore the all black sock/shoe combo and think it has a mean business look to it. Highlights the orange jersey even better.

During B10 postgame Weber talked about BUs improved positive communication with players.

At end of day if you want any team to exceed expectations they have to believe in a positive future for themselves This team should be confident and have swagger..
BU changed his way of communicating more positively and I believe that is a big help.
