This was yet another game where having more than one defensive system would have been beneficial. Teams will watch this tape and try to exploit the high ball screen in the same way that MSU did today. Of course, it worked until MSU got super hot, but they were also super cold on the same shots in the first half. If we throw a zone at them in the middle of that run, we could force them to try something else besides spamming the high ball screen. Maybe it gets a couple stops and knocks them out of rhythm, or at least forces them to try something else.
Or gives them a few 3's and we lose. You do remember how to break a zone.

Yea at the time I thought it unfair but after a while I thought Malik Hall was just crying cause he got stuffed. The ref saw every bit of it and thought correctly that nothing was injured. Curbelo was less a known thing and they didn't see it. But MSU got a potential 5 point play after a 3 second call I don't think was random
I've rewatched a couple times....the potential 5 pt. play you can make the claim that was legit (although I would like to hear the explanation from the official that initially waved off the basket as to why he changed his mind and allowed the basket to count)....but the 3 second call was total BS....there is absolutely no way that was a correct call....if you or anyone has the ability to re watch this do so....even if you speed count you couldn't get 3 seconds on Kofi in the lane....college officiating at it's worst

Izzo complained mightily about the refs calling a play dead when Curbelo was down but not calling it dead with Hall was down after the Hawk block.

My understanding, is that the call is placed dead when it's no longer a transition play. It's sort of a judgment call with no great standard. When the MSU guy with the ball stood with it for 2 seconds, the ref blew it dead because it was no longer a transition play. That was my take.

Likewise my understanding. I was yelling at tv for us to attack when hall was down.

Interesting. I didn’t realize that.

I agree, if that was actually 3 seconds it would have been easier to take.

Kofi has improved that’s for sure. Izzo grudgingly mentioned it. He’s got a left hand, ft’s are better “but I still don’t have confidence”. Definitely better at passing out of the post but still needs improvement.
Kofi ain’t no “coward “

It is not ineptitude. It’s intentional. The B10 employs the refs they do for a reason, there are no accidents in hiring and assigning these guys.

Just as a matter of perspective todays crew chief - Larry Scirotto - was formely police chief in Pittsburgh. He was fired (ahem retired early) while under investigation for corruption. He was paying contracts to a company that was not performing any services. A young officer discovered the payments during an internal audit and was told to drop it. The auditor ended up resigning under threat of retaliation and then sued the police department. Larry “retired“ shortly after the lawsuit was filed.

He was blacklisted from obtaining another job until this year when he got the job as police chief in ft lauderdale within the last year. Well guess what just happened THIS WEEK - HE FIRED THE AUDITOR WHO WAS INVESTIGATING HIM FOR CORRUPTION IN FT LAUDERDALE.

This is all publicly verifiable - just search his name with “Pittsburgh“ and “ft lauderdale”.
Great research! It might be time to find kickback paid the ref with the 3 second call, if that wasn't Scirotto

That Hawkins rejection at the rim - A+
Jake from State Farm going on a crazy heater after a couple cold shooting nights - A++
Trent Frazier with a cold blooded knife to Tom Izzo's heart - A++++

Bonus points - Kofi with just another 27 point outing, on the road and as the guy the other team absolutely game plans around... Just a force of nature.

Bill Walton.
With Bill Walton as the leading man in this biopic…it’s sounding like it would be a B movie…or the equivalent of a straight to video now days…who knows though might be kitsch enough that it becomes a cult classic!

Walton couldn't remember the lines .........................................

I agree. Interesting today Plummer was on the bench at the end in favor of Curbello. I think that was a very smart decision as his defense is way better than Plummers.
Plummer is a hell of a shot maker and was an absolute life saver to start this season, but his lack of defensive intensity is really frustrating. Feels like the first starter in BU's tenure that hasn't had that slap-the-floor energy on that end. It's not like Belo is more physically gifted than Plum but he fights and contributes more when not scoring. This lineup that is best (imo), on both ends, is Belo (good Belo), Frazier, DMW, Grandy, and Kofi, or Coleman (if he's on) in lieu of DMW.

He doesn’t need lines. Walton’s brain is a constant loop of meandering bike rides spanning the Conference of Championships and its domination throughout all the cosmos.
Well , to let the cat out of the bag , here is the actress portraying NL # 3 .........................

katew01.jpg

She's doing this movie as a favor to me on one condition .........Walken has to portray me..............

Walton ain't gonna happen ..........So there you have it ........

pru.............................Christopher Walken
NL # 3 .....................Kate Winslet

The other cast members portraying NL # 1 & 2 are being auditioned by me in the next couple of weeks ....Auditions will be closed sessions......

I would start Plummer for ever, but if he is not hitting shots early he is a defensive liability late. Not that I think Curbello is Trent Frazier of defense but he rebounds better, is a little better defender and for sure a better ball handler.

Belo is certainly not Trent, but his advanced stats as a defender are consistently really good. In fact, better defensive stats than offensive stats, which helps explain why BU gives/gave him a longer leash despite his sometimes erratic play on offense. He couldn't hold up to Mulcahy's post moves like Trent could (for instance), but he's a pest that generates steals and prevent straight-line drives to the hoop. Problem is his offense has been a huge negative so far this year. If he can figure that part out down the stretch run, I think that will be enormous for our closing lineups.

Well, of course you’re right…I’m pretty confident that Pru’s life is basically a variation on the SNL sketch “The Continental”

pru's life path has had many twists and turns in it and is a testament to his strength and discipline as an eternal optimist......Few could have withstood the slings and arrows of life's turmoils and trepidations that this warrior has had to overcome........if the Ancients had not sprinkled celestial dust on him right after he was born I doubt he would be here now........The glass half full scenario has served him well in his journey through this moment in time and he will be rewarded by the Ancients when his time is up here on Earth......

He is a soldier , always looking out for the underdog , those less fortunate than him and has a big ole soft heart the size of Jupiter......

Enjoy the life and times of pru , as someone like him only cums around once in a millenium....................................................................................................../s

I would never watch anything with Bill Walton. All you have to do is listen to his color commentary on the Arizona/Illinois Elite 8 game that his son played in and you’ll immediately want to punch him in the face the next time you see him.

We gave up 52 points in the second half. Trying to break their rhythm running what they were running and getting them to stand around for a couple possessions might be worth the possibility that they still score on those plays.
