They’re not 60 or 61 in the NET. They’re #77, and hopefully can sneak in as a Q1.

The curse of the smashed guitar is broken.
I appreciated how Brad in the post-game interview didn't mention his name. Just said "we couldn't contain the little guy" or something like thatDeath, taxes, and some absolute nobody going nuclear against Illinois.
Gave up 2 middle of the lane jumpers to Martinelli which he clunked. Definitely put him out of his comfort zone. I am also happy to see us changing defenses up and keeping them guessing.Winning on the road always presents challenges and this team keeps finding ways to get it down. Wagner had a great second half. Loved seeing Tomi hit big shots. Kylan being Kylan. A comfortable win despite the refs handing NW a 10-0 run with the two techs.
During that same stretch, our zone defense was giving up a lot of open looks. Count me in the camp that is glad we have a zone / different defensive looks to throw at teams. But I sure hope that zone defense gets improved. It seems we go to the zone more often when Z is in. I’m curious if those with more knowledge than me have a sense of why that might be.
Great points. As you typed, though, they still found a way to win--not sure if that happens last year. That home Nebraska loss really dampened my spirits, but the Illini are gradually ascending to a very high seed.A lot of things happened tonight that don’t normally happen.
They are a bad rebounding team. Played us even on the boards.
They are a bad three point shooting team. Hit 9 of them tonight.
Had a guy go for a career night. I was worried about that matchup going in but no way did I pencil him in for 28.
Refs dealt us some adversity.
And who knows how many guys are under the weather.
Still found a way to win. Kylan and Keaton are ice cold. And we got a good Tomi game just when we needed it. We have so many different buttons to push this year. 4-0 on the road to start out conference play is outstanding.
And just barely ahead of Purdon't.Torvik: 7-> 6
#3 Offense
#21 Defense
Yeah, he struggled a bit after that turnover and the flagrant. But I was happy to see him hit that incredible midrange shot at the end, and he had the two assists to Tomi on the 3's.This is the first game I felt Wagler pressed at times, but he is sooo good. Great game with a lot of contributors in small ways. Bam was relentless. It was nice to see Tomi have his best game of the year.
I’ve never officiated basketball so I guess I shouldn’t argue this point. But there are only two colors on the floor to distinguish between. Maybe I’m wrong but this sort of sounds like a solution to a problem that doesn’t really exist. If anyone cares, struggling to find any NFHS or NCAA links but here's a direct explanation.
Speaking of making passes off the rim, at 59, that was our lowest total possessions since 2022, when we beat PSU 60-55… only this time around we scored almost 20 more points. The staff might be on to something here with this play styleThe ol’ Illini style bank pass off the rim
Martinelli wishes he looked that good!
Bad ref job again. Good win.
Coached years ago and has always been the case. In almost every pregame coaches and captains were told about one syllable color designations. Remember it well because we were always purple on the road. Purple became "blue" LolI’ve never officiated basketball so I guess I shouldn’t argue this point. Hook & Hold , my arse !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I saw those guys come out on the floor turned to my buddies and said oh s^^t we get the worst crew in the B10 tonight. Those refs were absolutely maddening, man. Glad we were able to overcome all 8 men on the court.
Jake Davis continues his clutch play.
A big three and more.
