I stick by this with the exception of meyers leonard, who might be my least favorite Illini ever for those tears at nebraska. First off, he might not be "elite" in any of the categories you mentioned but few freshman ever are, and with all things considered I'd say his potential is "elite". Williams is an excellent athlete. Idk why you don't realize he is... He's not the explosive type, but he's a smooth athlete with bounce and at his size I'll take it. His handles are better than you might think. After he grows up a little bit, he could play 4 different positions, i could see him being a nasty point forward and an absolute mismatch on the floor, a serious problem for opposing teams in transition, and he can be made into a excellent defender and a fine rebounder with that length and adjustment to the system. He can be used to have a big/small lineup. There are so many different ways he can be used.
DJ took Deyonta Davis( A bigger 6'10" mcdonalds AA) to school off the dribble and finished beautifully at the rim and followed that up with a steal on the other end of the floor. It's things like that which open my eyes. Maybe it's just me though. Idk. I think he's exciting
He's made some nice aggressive plays on O recently. When you have a good base in most facets of the game - especially, to me, the handles at his size - it's not hard to hope for something special later on, as he gains experience and matures physically. For right now, I've liked what I've seen lately. Groce pointed out the only bright spot he saw at MSU was DJ's play. DJ's and AJ's length have been a factor the last few games in our improved defense too, IMO.
