Bottom line.....when this team is fully bought in and locked in on D...they are going to be an absolute nightmare to play against.

Also.....the Sencire Hype Train is boarding on Track #1.

My only concern with this team and hopefully it will resolve itself through chemistry and coaching. Is we have 4 to 5 players that want to go to the league after this season there will not be enough balls on the court and shots to go around I hope they buy into the fact that you can get to the league with 12 points per game 7 boards and 5 assist for a season if they do that will be OK. If each one of them are trying to Jack up 10 to 15 shots every game we're in big trouble.

Free throws and 3 pt shooting was abysmal. Hopefully just 1st game jitters. I’ll take the result overall considering 1st time most of these teammates have played together.

Is she an experienced reporter or a student learning her craft? I could see improvement in her delivery from the start to her post-game interview with Brad. Sheesh, give the kid a break.

And it bothers you that much, just use the mute button. Think of it as stroke prevention.
You're right I shouldn't be mad at her. I think I'm just peeved that I had to pay $10 for crappy B1G+.

Thank you Coach. CoHawk said communication on defense was great tonight. Coach B said, Nope! I personally didn't hear much talking and communication on defense the entire game. I've been in Lubbock a bunch. Small condensed arena, loud, rocking, fans are on top of you. TSjr. Will get use to the space ship known has State Farm.. He got a little miffed at that question. I started laughing on that silly question asked of him. Onward and upwards. Go Illini.

Coleman sounding way more like Trent Frazier in this interview than last year's CH. I also will note that Brad disagreed with his assessment of improvement in communication since the secret scrimmage. Such an interesting dynamic between the two transpiring over the last year.

Loved what I saw from the freshman but have to say that I can tell you I'm going to be a huge ty rodgers fan. The way he can come up with those boards and just his overall game. I think we are going to need this guy down the stretch this season to do the little things that wins games.
That's the way he played on the HS all star team. He proved he can do it against DII level, we'll see if he can do it against better teams next. Really nice glue guy every good team needs. I think he scores more as he develops. quickly becoming my fav along with Sencire

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — The Illinois men’s basketball team had newcomers front and center in an offseason overhaul, but it was a pair of returnees that shined in the team’s exhibition.
Coleman Hawkins and RJ Melendez each had a game-high 15 points in the Illini’s 87-52 win over Division II Quincy on Friday at the State Farm Center.
Transfers Matthew Mayer and Terrence Shannon Jr. joined the pair in the starting lineup, while freshman Skyy Clark replaced an injured Luke Goode.
Shannon had 12 points on 3-of-10 shooting in a team-high 25 minutes while Clark had 11 points. Both had three assists. Mayer finished with 6 points on 2-of-7 shooting.

Illinois didn’t get out in transition a bunch last season, but spurts with a full-court press and a more athletic roster gave the Illini 22 fast-break points against an overmatched opponent.
Illinois had 13 steals and 32 points off turnovers, with a poor outside shooting night keeping the game in reach until the second half.
The Illini shot 6-for-34 from 3, with Clark being the only player to make multiple shots from behind the arc.
That included a 1-for-15 start from deep. That poor shooting start allowed Quincy to take an 8-2 lead. But the Illini took the lead on a fastbreak dunk by freshman Sencire Harris with 12:17 left in the first and led the rest of the night.

I fear they’re going to miss Goode’s outside shooting. A lot.
I go back and forth on this. I think Goode will be extremely valuable as a shooter (and more), no doubt. But two years ago, I felt like the piece missing was someone for Ayo to pass for three. Then last year, we had no one who would take it to the rack, but we had Plummer shooting it lights out. I hope TSJ, Mayer, and RJ will find their shot (first game jitters), and we won't need to rely on the three, and Goode's deadeye will be a luxury rather than a necessity.

I agree they will miss Luke. But every team needs to overcome adversity. The next guy up will get playing time and when Luke comes back they will be deeper. During the post-game interview, Brad said they have been shooting lights out in practice and he wasn't too worried about shooting yet. He said Skyy is a much better shooter than he showed tonight. Freshmen jitters is part of that. The team has not had too much time at State Farm Center so that came in to play. I think that will improve during the season.

There was a clear emphasis in the 2nd half to get Skyy going. No way a starter is on the floor that deep in the game if the staff isn't looking for something. That said, 28 minutes back from injury is pretty spectacular. I'd say the dude is healthy!

Skyy looked like a shooter and driver in 2d half. Does anyone have a box score or link to one?
