Miznoz just lost their bowl game at the buzzer too.
And Pickett didn't go off on us like in previous games. 1/8, 3 pts this time around.
So they lost their two border war games by a combined 70 points. Yikes.
Demps very complimentary about guard play after the game. Wonder if it was his first time watching this team. Guard play has been horrendous at times. Maybe he does not understand sample size?
Regardless, hitting on all cylinders tonight, and against Div. 1 athletes...and Mizzou is pretty darn athletic and quick...if lacking in basketball skills. Give Mizzou credit for playing hard for a half...and give the Illini credit for continuing to march forward with their skills and team play. Illini just need to keep chopping wood and not accepting they are even near their potential....lots to learn....but the wonderful part of it all is they are learning and getting better every game. On to Fl. A & M and then four straight B1G wins before a huge showdown in W. LaFayette. Tougher, better, stronger, more unified.
And for Omar....you are a blessed young man with basketball skills this team needs. You can be a huge part of this team's success for a long period. Just listen to your coaches and eliminate the negatives. Believe in yourself and be Illini tough and competent.

Hideous performance. I thought he had a couple of steals in there, but nope. ZERO steals. ONE assist. Game-high 32 minutes.

You're comparing our opening stretch of the season to the last few games where we've hit our stride. I'm not yet confident that we will keep that up, but we've had really good guard play the last few games.

I agree, you can’t compare the start of this season when so many players were injured or sick. Like Brad said they have had time to practice!
When this team is moving the ball around it is a joy to watch. Shooters galore, and a behemoth in the middle that will punish you. Just a terrific product to watch when they are playing right. I’m honestly surprised when Plummer misses.

Moving forward for Martin has generally meant fooling the next school into hiring him. I'm guessing that's damn near impossible at this point.Clownzo will have to sit down in his office and figure out how to move forward now.
Look for him to occupy a spot on the bench in the Purdue coaching tree.

Apart from my bitter disappointment that the margin wasn't 40, the best parts of the evening for me were the repeated cuts to AC on the bench. He looked relaxed, happy and groovin'. Perhaps that means an entrance strategy is in place. I hope. In any event, great to see him so engaged.
Oh, the other best part of the game was that sequence late in the 2nd half when Kofi got the ball in key three steps from the hoop and three Miznoz players GTF out of his way as he drove.
My goodness, that was a satisfying thrashing all around.
