What a great breakdown of the gravity Jake Davis brings. You don’t see it so clearly in real time.
Please watch this. Especially those folks who think we have zero offense. Picture taken from barstool.

I need a super-cut of all Keaton's points in this game, ASAP.
As much as I absolutely love Ayo and that team, I don't think it's recency bias to say this game tops that one. Not by much, but it does, imo.In terms of where this ranks for Brad's biggest wins at Illinois... I still think the postseason has a place for itself.
In terms of regular season, I think it very much has a shot at #1. Splitting hairs with that Michigan game in 2021 (one thing of note -- there was no crowd present for that game).
For all those people who think our offense is just "chuck as many 3s as possible", this is for you.Matt Painter's presser is very interesting. He talks about how they really didn't want to hedge or deny Wagler bc it gets them scrambling and into rotations, but they eventually had to bc Wagler was just killing them... and when they did, and did get into rotations, we also kiled them bc we had open shooters everywhere.
I think the most amazing thing is Wagler's PG ability as such a youngin', bc what I think Painter is saying is you're sorta damned if you do, damned if you don't against our offense.
This to me spells a deep tourney run, provided we don't have an absolutely abysmal shooting game -- but even then, we have guys who can get their own in Andre, Kylan, Wagler, our post up game, etc.
Today was some kind of statement.
He did, but notice when he did that, once he handled business and the game was in hand. He was the more mature player today.Naw…Mirk gave it right back.

Does this mean we're legit? Maybe some of you will start hearing the drum I've been beating since the Nebraska game. Keaton will be the best Freshman to ever come through our program![]()

That’s a bit of an overreaction or recency bias.I don't think it's an overreaction to say that Keaton Wagler is one of the top 10 players in Illinois basketball history. He is going to be a lottery pick in this year's NBA draft. Incredible talent. Smooth, confident, calm, and super humble. what a joy it is for line fans to be able to watch him play. Especially, when no one had a clue going into this season how good he is.
loved loved loved that game (I was a senior at UIUC at the time) but we lost our PG and the season tanked after thatWell the Arizona should be #1 but the best game i have ever seen was 1979 Illinois vs. Magic..
This is an under appreciated sentence. Much like Scott Beatty’s “look out for Gabe Jacas. He’s gonna sack us!”Boilermakers weren’t happy meetin’ Keaton.
That fact that Purdue is coached by Matt Painter and not Curly Howard makes this win seem even more unlikelyIn terms of where this ranks for Brad's biggest wins at Illinois... I still think the postseason has a place for itself.
In terms of regular season, I think it very much has a shot at #1. Splitting hairs with that Michigan game in 2021 (one thing of note -- there was no crowd present for that game).
I saw the Illini beat Magic and MSU and did not believe they could do it...or did do it. I saw MSU play earlier that season and told my Dad they were the best team I had ever seen and that they would win the NCAA title. The Wake game I half expected the result. This team can really get the job done in many ways, but tonight we saw them all clicking together...eventually....and the finish was a talented bunch tantamount to Secretariat racing like the win down the stretch at Belmont. What about beating Magic and MSU - or demolishing Wake Forest. There have been others. Great win, great effort, but is one of any number of unforgettable wins.
Jake was responsible for 3 of those 4 threes. Incredible what a good shooter does for an offense.
Ayo didn't play in that game.As much as I absolutely love Ayo and that team, I don't think it's recency bias to say this game tops that one. Not by much, but it does, imo.
As you said, there was no crowd for that game, our leader wasn't out, and obviously nobody had the same level of legendary performance that KW did today. It was still a huge win, don't get me wrong, but I think today's game does top it.
look at the offensive rating torvik had for this game. out of this world. when the number 1 and 2 offenses met..... number 1 said I run this side of the court.. not you.The big gain from today's victory was in the resume metrics. WAB rating went from 14 to 9, generating an almost sure-fire Q1A win.

Forgot about Weatherspoon, Deon Thomas, and Kiwane Garris. That’s a bit of an overreaction or recency bias.
In the last 20 years alone I’ve got him behind:
Deron, Dee, Ayo, Brian Cook, TSJ, Kofi, Frank Williams, Brandon Paul, Marcus Domask
Eddie Johnson, Derek Harper, Bruce Douglas, Nick Anderson, Lowell Hamilton, Andy Kaufman, Kendall Gill….
That’s not even getting to the 30s and 40s
it's all fun and they are comedians / clowns but just keep in mind they "love Illinois" veneer is pretty thin to me. they smile through their teeth and secretly hate Illinois. remember they are the influencers your grandpa warned you about. I just wish there was more college basketball content out there for junkies like me. but we take what we can get... for nowYeah they’re a fun listen, I listen to the pod almost everyday and always watch the previews and recaps. Which is why I want to hear what Greg is tweeting or saying about Keaton lol. That’s all I’m interested in, didn’t mean to start some debate
