Agreed. Teams always are getting up for us now too.Because we have higher expectations now!! That is a good thing. We are on the path to becoming a national name that will be in the top tier conversation every year (MSU like).

Did you watch the Notre Dame game his freshman year? Maybe they were just especially painful to watch but seemed like I recall a bunch of missed fast break layups.Plus I think Dee was the better finisher. Maybe it’s just the length of time since we last saw him, but I don’t remember Dee missing as many shots at the rim as the other two do.
I knew I’d get some version of this response. I should know better. Let me try again. This math isnt mathing........
TSJ draws like 3-4 shooting fouls on drives per game. For 80% of the calls on his drives to be charges he'd have to charge like 16 times LOL
Even if he even drew 1 foul on drives a game, he'd have to average 4 charges to make that math work. He seems to get 1-2 charges a game. Its probably less than 50%
Anyone should get a lot of charges when they lower their shoulder (or push off with their elbow) --those are fouls. At least that's my understanding, assuming the defender has position. It's somewhat gray, especially when there's defender movement involved, but I think generally curling up with your shoulder, or letting your elbow get out as you push off is where the offensive player can get the charge call.I knew I’d get some version of this response. TSJ seems to draw an inordinately high number of charges when he lowers his shoulder and powers to the basket. Many of these should really be defensive fouls for blocking, but that is not what the refs are calling. I do not want TSJ to stop driving to the hoop, but I would like him to alter his approach and use less shoulder.
Go Illini.
Please tell the refs to watch Edey for this then. Constant elbows and no calls.Anyone should get a lot of charges when they lower their shoulder (or push off with their elbow) --those are fouls. And that will help a lot to get excellent players from the portal from now on like we did this year.Because we have higher expectations now!! That is a good thing. We are on the path to becoming a national name that will be in the top tier conversation every year (MSU like).

Ty Rodgers is a jump shot away from being Nick Anderson 2.0 IMOI’ve been saying it all year … Ty Rodgers is going to be a PROBLEM in this league …
He gets a jumper … He’s unstoppable … Both ends of the floor .. Elite rebounder … Elite teammate …
I had an NBA scout text me tonight and said “If the Rodgers kid had a jump shot. He’d be a lottery guy for us. We think he’s that good in all other areas.”
He is the X Factor for this team going forward IMO …
I'm thinking more like Battle or Norman. I watched his play on that HS all star team he was on last year and you could tell that, despite not scoring a whole lot, he was right up there with the best of them talent wise and that team really had some talent. The way he is playing now is very similar to the way he played for that all star team, IMO and he's "just" a freshman~!Ty Rodgers is a jump shot away from being Nick Anderson 2.0 IMO
Ty a much faster , better passer than nick. Equal rebounder and same shark mentality. short one 30 foot jumper to beat Indiana and of course missing a jump shot. Nick is one of my all time favorite Illini. I'd want him on my team ANYTIME. also Frankie, Dee, Norman and tons more.Ty Rodgers is a jump shot away from being Nick Anderson 2.0 IMO
Agree, TY's rebounding and knack for the ball reminds me of NIck Anderson. One of my all-time favorites.Ty a much faster , better passer than nick. I'd want him on my team ANYTIME. also Frankie, Dee, Norman and tons more.
Ummm, Ty is not faster than Nick Anderson, Nick was a much better finisher around the rim, much quicker leaper, much better jump shooter and Ty does not have anything close to the shark mentality yet that Nick had (there were games in '89 that Nick simply would not let them lose)Ty a much faster , better passer than nick. Anderson was also one of my top 5 favorite Illini...but not sure he was MUCH quicker than Ty. I have not seen any group who were quicker to the second jump than Anderson and Battle though...pogo sticks with jets. Anderson was also a very dependable shooter which was why he had a successful pro career. Both Ty and Nick were relentless rebounders, as were all the guys on that Flyin' Illini team. Never were they matched against a team and had the height advantage...and never were they matched against a team that wanted the ball off the board more than they did. And never did they play a team that could remotely match their advantage with their ability to pass the ball in the paint. We may never see a team like that again....but if you do witness that unique ability...show me...I now live in MIssouri...but regardless, I would want to watch as it is something special.Ummm, Ty is not faster than Nick Anderson, Nick was a much better finisher around the rim, much quicker leaper, much better jump shooter and Ty does not have anything close to the shark mentality yet that Nick had (there were games in '89 that Nick simply would not let them lose)
Other than that - the comparison is valid
Great opportunity for an AI appYeah, you could literally have a videofficial for every game watching on TV and help make calls based on the TV replay. The floor officials could wear ear pieces and get the call on close plays. It would speed the game up soooooo much.
That's why he's the coach and I'm on the message board. Be that as it may Dickinson averages 18 ppg on 56% shooting and he got 31 points vs. us on 66% shooting (granted, he played more minutes than his average). The 31 points is a career high (previous 26 across 90 games). He was also 7 rebounds above his average.

WITTH THE WAY DICKINSON WAS PLAYING WE WERE VERY LUCKY TO WIN, REGARDLESS OF UNDEERWOOD'S RATIONALIZATIONS

That flyin Illini team were the best dunkers north of fly slamma jamma...
For the love of God man. Our game plan against Michigan for 3 years in a row has been let Hunter eat and try to stop everyone else. We’re literally undefeated against them in that time frame.View attachment 23854

It appeared to me we were one Dickinson basket away from losing the game at onee point which he barely missed. For the love of God man.
