It is a stupid mindset. Before BU, we couldn't even make it to the tournament for the better part of a decade. Now we do it every year, compete for a BIG title every year, get a top seed in the BTT every year, win more than 20 games every year, but because we haven't had our success in the NCAAT yet, BU isn't good enough for Illinois. This is preposterous.
No matter what the level achieved, there are those who will always expect a plethora of National titles and say negatives about a coach when he does not win it all every year. Having been in the Indiana Field House at courtside on the center-line to watch the Hoosiers with no starter over 6'5" hand highly favored Ohio State a loss and the B1G title to the Illini in '63, I fully understand that it takes the ball to bounce your way occasionally for a any team to win against elite competition found in every game played in the B1G...let alone the Sweet Sixteen. It was special to watch the Lou Henson years when the Illini were always in the hunt. That is once again the case. I hope BU is around for at least 2 decades which will likely be long after my life ends. Watching his teams grow over the course of the season, especially this team, is so satisfying to this Illinois hoops fan. That said, a National Championship would allow me to rest in peace.

I had to get on a plane and turn my phone off up 2 with about 6 minutes to go. The suspense was killing me and I prepared myself for the worst upon landing, but was pleasantly surprised to see the final score. This is a huge win. Now take care of business at home against Purdue and continue to climb!

Just a reminder that according to the ON3 2023 transfer portal player rankings, Marcus Domask was the #118 ranked player in the portal.
247 SPORTS had him at #108.
RIVALS had Marcus at #79.
IF there was a ALL AMERICAN Portal Transfer Team, does anyone doubt that Marcus would be a First Team Portal ALL AMERICAN at this point?

Really don’t like calling a foul on the defensive player when the offensive player jumps into him. Evidently cylinder only applies to offensive player. Wahl would foul out if called either way. Might be a problem for TJ though.

Not a snowball's chance at #2, but if they can win the next 2, then pick off 2 in the BTT.....maybe a 3.

You just don't drop teams who are winning because we're winning too.
Win out gives you 2 wins over current top seed in last 10 games. Win out and chances are better than that of a snowball. Even if committee doesn’t factor in Sunday game, conversations would be had. We’d end the season ranked 5 or 6.

Just keep stacking wins and continue to clean things up and don't worry about what any other team is doing. Several of the teams ahead of us have injury issues. A 3 seed is certainly in reach IF we win out. Not saying it will happen, but with this experienced team it could. It really could . . .

I watched the game on my plane from Vegas to Minneapolis. Love Delta's free wifi for SkyMiles members. Couldn't have watched a better game. It's was simply awesome. What a way to start the month of March for Illinois basketball!

Amazing game by MD who is likely the most unathletic, slow footed, slowest Illini to ever perform in the uniform...and maybe the smartest and most offensively skilled. That fadeaway jumper is extremely difficult to perfect, as he did tonight, against B1G defenders. Just think about it...how many others in college basketball use it so much and make that shot even close to his efficiency? My hat goes off with a deep bow to a terrific player.
I think Sam Maniscalco would take issue with this bold statement...
