Illinois 93, Michigan 85 Postgame

I was stunned the refs didn't call a foul on that "vertical contest". We are talking about the Illini AT Michigan in a close contest down the stretch. Illinois usually doesn't get those no calls.......
Coach’s letter to the B1G office probably helped balance the scales a little bit? But for how long??

I have to agree with a few posters. I don't really care don't care what our seed is this year! As long as we go into the tournament healthy and we have Hawkins RJ and Goode, coming off the bench to help out. I think we're going to be awesome. We have to shoot free throws better though if we're going to advance deep! I would not want to play this in Illinois team! I would prefer us to win the five next games though and finish 25- 8 no doubt! Go Illini.

I'd say he's fantastic now.
Confirmed. Also, if you’re wondering why Plummer sat down the stretch, he somehow managed to put up a -1 for the day while scoring, what, 26 points? Suspect his D has something to do with that.

Can someone check my math? I think Plummer is 14 for his last 19 three point shot attempts.

Plummer sat because his defense was not good, that three they hit where he ran behind two Michigan players instead of fighting over the picks sealed his spot on the bench.

Crazy conference. tOSU beats a strong Illinois team three days ago (in Champaign no less) and loses today at 14-15 Maryland - by 15 points. Sure hope Purdue can beat Wisconsin this coming week. There is no reason the Illini can't win our two home games this week.

CBS Commentator Bill Raftery said of Coleman Hawkins today at one point, “He’s playing like CONNIE Hawkins!”

Old School ball fans will appreciate the reference. As will Coleman if he hears about it.

It’s a beautiful thing when a talented player who has lost confidence a bit finds it again and feels that mojo and blossoms to let that talent loose.

Basketball is about many things. And one of the biggest is the ebb-and-flow of confidence that a player or a team has at any given point. Everything from clicking together and rolling to looking lost and heaving bricks. It happens during a game. It happens during a season. And it happens during a career.

Can’t let doubt or disappointment creep in. Don’t over-think things. Play loose and with confidence. Trust yourself.

Goode is next up on the confidence train. Needs to hit some shots and feel himself contributing more on the ‘O’ side. The next one to blossom.

And with 7 of the top 10 teams losing yesterday... March is going to be FUN.

I agree for the most part with this exception. I am 60 years old and have loved the Illini since I was about 8. Seeding does matter in the NCAA tournament. Matchups are everything (that and luck). Yes I want to win (share) a Big regular season championship. I have seen about 8 of those in my life. What I have not seen is an NCAA championship team. This team, in this years filed, has a chance. Maybe it is not a great chance, but they are at least in the top 10-12 teams who could win it.

So what I would ask is go look how many 4/5 seeds have made the final 4. It is such a better place to be a 3 seed (even better is a 3 seed playing through Chicago). We can get a 3 seed if we get hot.

I was at the game in 2005 against Arizona in the Rosemont Horizon. That was the loudest game I have ever seen. Seeding does matter, and anything that helps us get a better seed in the NCAA tournament I am in favor of.

I simply don’t have that many more years on this earth that we will have teams that could win it. I love sharing the Big title, but the big prize is an NCAA title.

What can we do for Trent Frazier that's different than just retiring his jersey? I feel like he needs something extra special. Like name the meeting room after him or something. Just incredible how much of himself he's given to this program.

Such a huge win! Although it confirms with me our super power is missing the front end of 1 and 1's. We are tremendous at it. Otherwise that was so much fun and hats off to Frazier, Kofi, Plummer, Belo, and Hawkins. Tremendous games and great team win!
