Illini after winning BTT championship

Quietly averaged 21-7-8 in the semis and finals. Nothing quiet about that.Tominaga is the real outlier there. He got locked down by Illinois and put up a really empty 18 pts and was 2/9 from 3. Williams was the best player on Nebraska in the tournament.
Domask probably missed out because he was awful against OSU(just missing open layups) but he quietly put up 16/7/8 and 26/7/8(will need to be limit the turnovers from today though).
Really, Ty was great all tournament even if he's not putting up counting stats. I think he would have been deserving.
I think you could also make an argument for Battle or maybe Buie but he only played 1 game.
Today was a GOOD day! Cheers to my fellow Illini friends and my Illini Basketball Team!View attachment 32357
This was waiting for the time to expire. Then missed the poured pic. Cheers to the Champs!
CBS's coverage is a joke. How many times do they keep the camara focused on a player or a coach as the ball is in play, finally picking up the game as ball crosses half court.Only CBS would show these people talking instead of us getting the hardware....sigh
Nice! I hope that's just frost on those cubes, though. Cloudy cubes won't do. (I do have some nice clean ones in my freezer if you need some help with that bottle.)View attachment 32357

Storr is a stud [ don't know why he wouldn't play for Brad] and Wisconsin's offense wasn't very good until he came along so he had to carry most of the load where as Marcus doesn't need to be the stud all the time because we have a guy by the name oh Shannon!marcus really only had 3 good halves of basketball. AJ had a lot more
He just needs to get on TJs workout routine and he’ll be tearing up the B10 next year… hopefully wearing orange.Storr shot 15 for 43 in the semifinal & champ game. That's not even 35% shooting. He had ONE ASSIST THE ENTIRE TOURNAMENT.
Domask averaged 17 pts 7 assists and over 5 rebs and shot 42% in tournament despite a 3/16 anomaly vs Ohio State.
Edit: Storr also really faded in the 2nd half when the game became important yesterday. Don't get me wrong, love to have him for the right price, but the salivating over his play while ditching on MD is pretty darn silly given their actual play/results.

If he had team first attitude like Shannon he would be a great addition. I believe he has A J first attitude more like Mayer last year.100% agreed on that!
I had the same thought...Coach Underwood: my hat’s off to Wisconsin.
Also Coach Underwood: literally wearing a hat.
Nothing to add to this. It just made me laugh.
And all credit to Domask's excellent overall performance yesterday, but leaning on him as a ballhandler remains a problem. Chucky Hepburn was licking his chops.
And yet, we persevere. Every team has flaws, especially this year. In the summer, you thought our lack of a point guard could keep us out of the tournament. Instead, we were a top 15 team all year, outright second in the B1G, and now have a nice new banner in the rafters. The point guard situation isn't ideal, there's a reason we tried our darndest to get one, but inarguably Brad was right that we could weather the storm without one.And all credit to Domask's excellent overall performance yesterday, but leaning on him as a ballhandler remains a problem. MD has an elite turnover rate, he's extremely strong with the ball and is very methodical, precise and calculated. He's also becoming much better at distributing as the season has worn on (8 assists in 2 straight games to finish the tourney).
It is absolutely crazy that this ridiculously false narrative continues to be pushed here. You're one of my favorite people here, and you mostly have really good (and fair) takes on things, but this one is absolutely silly.
MD hoisted a B1G trophy yesterday, while Chucky sat with his face in his palms and a scowl on his face while their seed was presented.
100% true. That ability to fend guys off with his hip and feel his way through a crowd works as well in the backcourt as it does in the paint. And he's a super intelligent passer, thus why we're using him as a PG in the first place, you want the ball in the hands of a guy with his elite game feel as much as possible.MD has an elite turnover rate, he's extremely strong with the ball and is very methodical, precise and calculated. But he nonetheless struggles to bring the ball up against pressure because his handle isn't that good, that's just reality. He got the ball straight swiped from him twice yesterday and had a couple other close calls. 12 TO's in the BTT.
For a Missouri Valley forward, he's basically a miracle as a Big Ten PG. But there are fundamental limitations there, as there are with Rodgers, as there are with Moretti, etc etc.
I don't think anyone would accuse us of being a perfect basketball team. BU has put together the best brew of a bunch of very talented but kinda weird parts. He likes teams like that.
I'm liking this solely for your new avatar photo.I'm sorry are you reading prime MJ playoff stats to me? Because that's what that looks like
Chucky Hepburn can be and was a problem at times. Mainly sneaking from behind or on a double stealing or poking the ball away. I felt we actually did ok. He disrupted Purdue's offense and bothered Braden Smith a lot more than he did Domask. And all credit to Domask's excellent overall performance yesterday, but leaning on him as a ballhandler remains a problem.
