Not nearly as talented throughout the lineup but very gritty like themI'm getting some 2004-2005 vibes.

Someone has to say, even though I don"t really believe it:
We have peaked too soon.

Lol Domask was 13-15 from 2. Probably can't ask for that but was a hell of a performance, was even going inside when the 7 footer was inside.
I mean both were Mr. WisconsinDomask is our podZiemski!
Remember his first year saying he wasn’t worrying about height. Haven’t heard that from him recently. You can tell Brad and the staff put in a lot of effort to construct this year's team in exactly the image he wanted. Tough, smart, hard working, and relentless, Junkyard defense, great ball movement, unselfish play, and good scoring (elite tonight). Everyday guys was a slogan last year. With this team, it's reality. Brad is much calmer and focused on the bench. No screaming at players or fart noises in postgame interviews. We are watching a special Illini team building a terrific resume while getting better each game. Special season in the making.
That’s not the point - this team has even more upside when some of the other players play to their potentialTwo guys alone did not win this game it took at least 10 guys. Great Bench
Marcus Domask is the point guard now.I have to say, despite no point guard, this team is light years ahead of last year’s team. This was a solid win and we played like a well coached, disciplined team.
Underwood pushing Domask to be more aggressive offensively indicates he might know a little bit about coaching.
Luke Goode had a nice game today IMO even though he didn't score much especially when TSJ was on the bench. What is crazy about this year is when Shannon is out, this team doesn’t really have lulls. It allows Shannon to not be rushed back and keeps him in position to succeed when it matters most. Depth matters.
Congratulations, Mr. Domask, you now own the paint…
Yeah, I was thinking in the 2H that Domask is doing to them what always seems to happen to the Illini. Some decent but relatively unknown guy goes ballistic and we all say 'who the fork is that guy'Kind of did to FAU what Kolek did to us. Or maybe that guy from PSU.
That's a great point, and I bet it'll really affect us positively in the polls as they week-by-week creep back up in rank. This will be a great win.
FAU will go and clean up now in their conference, win a lot.
We will look all the better.
SO glad you don't know what you're freakin' talkin' about!Major takeaways:
Domask and Shannon are very good. It's going to be difficult to stop both of them.
Coleman needs to let the game come to him and stop forcing step back shots. He doesn't need to be the guy just needs to play defense, do the dirty work, and occasionally hit a pick and pop 3.
Goode is a lights out spot up shooter. Would like to see them get more looks for him.
Harmon struggled a bit with the quickness of FAU's guards but good news is that most teams don't have that type of athleticism. Still I think he showed a bit of the scoring punch he can provide off the bench to go with the defense and rebounding he can provide.
Guerrier probably shouldn't be on the floor at the same time as Hawkins. I think Guerrier should function as backup to Hawkins and just play small ball when Hawkins goes to the bench(should still be fine because of the overall length of the team).
Dainja is simply a liability on defense. Can't really protect the rim and can't guard out to the 3 pt line. Also, his penchant for head scratching turnovers and sometimes forcing shots really negate some of the good things he can do offensively.
How many of those were easy buckets too? I swear there were maybe only one or two that were either not in flow or contested. Everything else was very much in his comfort zone so if he can get to his spots 1 on 1 I could see more performances like this in the future!Lol Domask was 13-15 from 2. Probably can't ask for that but was a hell of a performance, was even going inside when the 7 footer was inside.
We beat FAU, if we take down Tennessee too we crack top 10, maybe even top 8?
Coleman has the talent to be a close #3 to those 2 as well when he puts it all together.Winning becomes a heck of a lot easier when you have the best two players on the court. College basketball, watch out. We have our dynamic duo.
