What rumors? Hadn't seen anything about Butkus to NFL?
Only rumors about Luke I have seen or heard is he was the main on to call out McGee about things to others. Mainly to his old team/roommate.
I do not see anything any of these really bring to the table. Goodwin has the title OC but he would just be another McGee. Everyone knows Arians runs the offence for the cards. We need someone who is an OC that has done well as an OC but I get the feeling we are going to just get another name that really cant call plays

Well, the tweet said no firings would happen. It never said anything about coaches leaving on their own. Though...I doubt it will happen.
He also has a "normal" career that he's spent many years growing that has nothing to do with football and certainly offers far more stability than college coaching. He'd almost certainly give a "no thanks" of his own on the crazy chance the offer were presented.
I know it's fun to spitball on a message board, but some of the names that get thrown out here are really far removed from reality.

No. Never coached, stepped away from the broadcast booth to go back to Chicago full time and have less time away from family. Also has a successful and I assume lucrative position in real estate there. He's a welcome supporter of the program though.

Can't tell if you're serious. If you want a former Illini qb, just look at the current support staff. Nathan Scheelhaase has been cutting his teeth in the coaching world the last few years. Wouldn't mind adding him to the staff as maybe a QB coach, but would really hope they find a solid, established OC to go along with him.

I was never sure I wanted Beutjer as a qb. Definitely not feeling good about him as the OC. But at least he has experience as an OC.

Brad Bower has more potential to draw some recruits out of Ohio.
Job posting is through the 8th. So, I don't believe they can announce until then.
Yeah and something should leak before then with the NFL and bowl season being virtually over.
