DE Jaylin Bannerman
I thought we were good with Saunders and Urban as well

Tuf Borland is a monster. Would love to see the coaches bring him in. Doesn't sound like we have a good at him though at this point. Anyone got any under the radar
Players at this point in-state? Need new hudl videos to look at haha

Well, that's nice. Do we have any chance at getting him? Just seems like a long-shot at this point.
Also, that's a fantastic football name.
I am probably going to get a lot of slack from people but......If Tuf Borland was not a highly rated IN- STATE prospect I don't know if I would want him.
I only say this due to him being 6'1 215...The weight, of course, does not bother me its his height/frame and his film. What he is great at is playing close to LOS and tackling, shedding blockers and making plays. His speed is solid as well.
I thought about this after NSD and we landed two LBs that are long tall rangy types 6'2+ 210 J. Jones and 6'3 200 J. Williams.
These are the type of guys I would love over the "typical" run stopper "BIGTEN LB"
Teams are going more towards spreading the field and playing fast. Having a guy who is a tackler and run stopper isn't the best fit going against these types of offenses.
I would rather have, in our defense, our two ILB (WLB and MLB) be that 6'2-6'3 230-235 long athletic rangy type over the short stocky 6' 6'1 guy who has issues in pass coverage or doesn't have the range to read run, diagnose it as play action pass, flip his hips and get his but back into his zone.
Again I think I will take some heat cause I don't see Borland as a kid who can play pass very well and it has hurt us and other teams that have been using stocky compact tough run stopping LBs in the middle of the field.
I would have to say that him visiting indicates at least a small level of interest. Why visit if you have no interest at all? And on the chance that he doesn't have any interest maybe the visit can change that or Phair can sway him.

@IllinoisRivals
He's closer to 230 than 215
Noticing a lot of DL recruits any hancr Phair makes a splash fast?
Just wanted to post about Albert Okwuegbunam, a 2016 WR/DE from SHG in Springfield. He's about 6'5, 215 pounds, but has a ton of room to add weight if he plays D-line. He received an offer from Toledo this past Monday and got offered by Minnesota earlier today. He also took an unofficial visit to Minnesota a couple months ago (I think it was a week or two after SHG won a state title). He was at Illinois' junior day but didn't really get talked to by the staff. I've seen him play several times and he is really, really good and I hope that Illinois offers him soon. I would hate to see another downstate kid go to Minnesota instead of Illinois if they do extend him an offer.
Here's his Hudl if anyone's interested:
