This seems very good (6'5, 260 and decent offers). Does anyone have an informed opinion on Mr.Gavin's football potential? This seems very good.

If Zach Shackelford commits elsewhere, there is Doug Kramer floating around and he said he will commit for a potential center candidate. The Offense should have another tackle and WR by next week as well

I don't think we get Shackelford.

Who is the tackle you refer to? Guessing the WR is Ballard. Although I think with Ballard it becomes an AD Miller situation from last year. Blows up a bit and flips to a bigger fish later in process.

Don't know who Jacob was referring to but the Illini are in good standing with OTs Jake Cerny and Devon Robinson.

I share the same concern about Ballard. Illinois is his only offer and he has been ready to commit for a few weeks. Looks to be dragging along waiting for another offer.

This one is a little different.. Miller had numerous major offers prior to committing to Illinois.. though the part where other schools turn up the heat post-commitment is probably accurate.

Cerny is supposed to decide in a month. Add Cerny and Leavitt and you have one darn good offensive line class.

Cerny is a big dude. The CBs are 100% Illinois and he visited Nebraska in June. The day may have come for Nebraska to not take all the hogmollies.

First why take a guy whose biggest attribute is his feet and, quickness and movement skills lateral of particular note and make the guy a guard ?
Makes no sense he lacks power and strength. He will not be in the 2 deep until his rs soph no surprise, but he might never be as guard. Edgy say he is 270-275 now that helps. Anyways based on the little 2 minute clip here he looks like a mid 3* 5.6 grade tackle to me. I would give the same grade for guard just might take another year to compete for a spot in the 2 deep.

Cerny is one of the guys I really like by the way I see him as a high 3* 5.7 grade. He would make a nice addition to the line.

Anything cooking on the defensive side? We need more up front IMO.

LB Tim Walton is very high on us & has been on campus a few times.
McLaurin & Sutton are each planning a visit soon:illinois:

I would love to get Sutton. Mueller the DE from Wisconsin would be a great get. We just need 2 other Defensive Tackles that need to appear from somewhere. I still dream that Treyjohn Butler will come here. I know it won't happen but he does have family connections to Central Illinois

I'm sorry but I don't go internet stalking, what positions are they? DE, DT, OR LB? Thanks. Any higher ranked kids interested on that side of the ball or are we still at low 3 star to 2 star level? Thanks again. Hopefully sooner rather than later we can have our great defense again to go with the strong offense we have been building.

We're looking at McLaurin for DT & Sutton plays LB. Neither are highly ranked, but I think that's an oversight

He cut his list to 3 this week & we weren't on it

And Sutton played the position at the same high school as TJ Neal. He could take over the position from him nicely

Haven't posted here in a while put just wanted to pop in to say that I am really pulling for Doug Kramer. That's a kid who is as big a fan of the O&B as all of us are who has a legitimate chance to live out his dream and play for Illinois. I just hope there's some way to get him in this program, even if it's a grayshirt or something like that, a kid with that much passion for Illini football can't be bad to have around.

Plus, I kind of like his film! Some physical limitations maybe, he's not a specimen or anything, but the kid can play.

So anyway: Doug, you have at least one fan here who is rooting for you to get that offer.

Go :illinois:

I've been waiting to see if Kramer gets an offer. If we are taking in 2*/3* talent with MAC offers why not offer an Illinois kid who clearly has a passion for the O&B?

Looks like JUCO O-line Tate Leavitt is visiting Kentucky this Friday, the 17th
per his Scout profile http://www.scout.com/player/8328439n-tate-leavitt/recruiting?s=73

I really want him to suit up for the Illini. Based on his Scout, it looks like Illinois, Kentucky, & Oklahoma are top 3 since they are "medium" interest level and everyone is either "low" or "none" interest.
Anyone have any inside information on Tate?

Because they think the players that accepted are better than MAC talent and can exceed at the U of I and in the Big Ten. I personally would like to see them offer Kramer, but it seems like he is a fringe offer. If things don't pan out for a few recruits in August I think they will offer him. Maybe they want him as a preferred walk on and he wants a scholarship. We don't know the politics of who gets offered. The fact that Beckman doesn't have a contract after this year and is getting any recruits of any stature is a credit to the staff.
