It's almost like people with common sense could have seen this coming.
You people are nuts. Don't you see that decommitments like this provide stability and are good for near-term recruitment? How can you all not be very much looking forward to the recruitment that our permanent interim coach us going to undertake in the next year? It's like you don't even realize this is a time of rebuilding and that we've got great leaders in place. You should all be very comfortable with where we are right now.

Would honestly wonder about anyone who didn't.

We have kids that don't have other Power Five opportunities, and there will be a better situation a year from now for the ones who stay. They don't know what that situation will be, they don't even know the guy who will make the decision yet, and it will probably be a from-the-bottom rebuild, but it won't be THIS.

We are getting it from all sides flips transfers and according to buschon two prospects got denied by admissions one ended up at Syracuse and one went to Iowa state. At what point does someone with some stones stand up and say enough. They won't and this exodus will continue

Our admissions and administration equals Northwestern 1970-1989. Dark dark time to be an Illini. Might force me to check out after 35+ years

Grooming season redshirt but they will be there in some way. I have a lot of friends that are involved alums, they admit talent whoever they can lure. Unlike us who do our best to turn away talent. It matches the rest of this mess.

Drives me nuts too, but Wisconsin and Northwestern whip our butts year-in, year-out.

Well they quite some time doing plus coaching stability as far as I know the bridge program was in effect all but zooks last year and then our program suffered greatly. Don't get me wrong I am not against higher standards but if we can't make it work or not good at it then go back to what was working.

I.e. Anderson at whisky left so he can recruit guys he wants, was not good at recruiting with high standards so quit and went somewhere he could recruit who he wants. A lot of these coaches will not want to recruit higher academic guys that alone sits the coach pool

Not all coaches are going to want to deal with the strict admissions standards but there are still quality candidates who have shown the ability to recruit/coach through such restrictions. Promising young coordinators like Stanford's Mike Bloomgren and ND's Mike Sanford are a couple names that may come up a year from now.

I will be surprised if we even fill this class and still lose 10-15 to transfer. No one is going to come here at least if they have a brain. I hope the no minds in charge of this are seeing what they have created and what the future will bring.

The powers that be want us to be, in my perception we are not, we have quality academics yes but all colleges have that to a degree. If we would of had these standards when zook first got here there would have not been that 2007 team IMO. We are trying to change into something we are not. Stanford and northwestern were built on this, we are trying to mimic them and on the fly.
