Fleck may be the real deal, but I find it hard to believe a legit prospect would choose the MAC over the Big Ten this early in the game.
AGree. Seems odd on the surface. I think the worst B1G schoold would be more attrative than the best MAC school in most instances.

Anyone have a list of kids committed or uncommitted that attended spring game?

I heard:

RB- Moran was there but anyone else?

I'd love to see one too. The only guy I noticed was the Rontavius Groves guy from Vaughn's high school.

I watched film on him...Hes got some elite speed and ability. Would be a great prospect for Vaughn and Watkins to start talking to, to join them.

Fleck can offer a lot to a kid who is on the fence between higher tier conference schools and WMU.

Im sure he has his own touch but I'm guessing coming to play for a winning program which he has built, and also getting on the field early he can pitch.

Im sure him being a younger energy, good natural connection to kids helps as well.

Urban must have really wanted that NW offer. Looks like they offered and he went there instead of our game and ended up committing

Any defensive guys high on the Illini? I know we have some good offensive lineman recruits, any of these guys going to be our center of the future? Thanks.

How big a deal is it to recruit Illinois high school talent? Does it really matter where we get talent, as long as it produces? What would be an acceptable level on in-state talent? Should we be signing 70% of the four and five-star guys from Illinois? Should 60 of our 85 scholarships be Illinois high school players? Does it really matter? It didn't seem to hurt Oregon that their best player was from Hawaii.

I think it matters only to an extent. I know the school would push for ILL kids, Maybe some Alum would too. But if we get a handful of ILL kids per class and rest from IN, OH, Mich, FLA, GA, TN, TX. I think thats fine. At this point with our last class and how well we did to round it out I don't have a preference as to where the kids come from. I just wanna win!

Be honest and get talented motivated recruits and honestly I think being in the top 3 every year in the b10 west is reasonable with occasional shots at the greater goals beyond. Average 8 wins a year for 5 years and enjoy

Well that is no fun...

Would assume other coaches are showing him Vaughn, Brown, and Corbin brought in right before him. (Though he should have known that when he committed)

Also sounds like I will be eating some crow... thought he was more like Megginson in his commit and may turn out more like AD Miller like someone else said

The other schools recruiting him are bringing it talent just as good, if not better, than those 3. I doubt it's a competition thing. He still seems solid, but it is early...make a bowl and we should be good.

Agree if we make a bowl should be good.

But I think you have 2 different pitches going on.
ILL- come play early and lead us (RBs in front of him)
NEB- come play here in front of 90,000 and great tradition (still RBs in front)

It plays more of a factor in our scenario. Just my thinking. I hope he stays, the O'Fallon coaches seem high on Illinois and as long as we make a bowl we should be fine.

Not arguing with you because your point is valid. However, so frustrating to see this issue, since every school brings in guys at your position in the years ahead of you AND the years behind you. There will always be competiton

Interesting that the article was written by Nebraska's Rivals, who didn't start recruiting him until the day he committed to Illinois.
