That wind noise you hear is Lovie and his staff building a Championship team across the nation.

Every door of the best players across the nation will feel this wind. This is something special Illini Fans.

Hang on to your hat the ride is going to be awesome.

I can only dream that this is the reality of this new era. Articles such as this

can only help us move forward, and closer to that goal.

This is a good article, but I hope discussion about the race of Lovie Smith fades away soon. I don't think any true Illini fan believes that Lovie or any of his assistants were hired because they were black, or that just their race will make a difference in Chicago. It doesn't seem to hinder Michigan, OSU, MSU, Iowa, Wisconsin, Etc.. Winning will trump race every time in my opinion, no mater the race of the HC. Don't get me wrong. I have the utmost respect for Coach Smith and just don't want his skills overshadowed by his race. To keep talking about his race is a disservice to a great man and coach.

Right, the NFC north jumped into the B1G West. That's even better. I think the perfect example of the attention to detail is The Old Ball Coach when he jumped up to the Redskins. He was golfing most days at Florida and couldn't handle the 24/7 attention the NFL job needed. From everything I have heard about Lovie, is that he loves (no pun intended) that part of the job.
Obviously, you've never used the term "Old Ball Coach" in the presence of Steve Spurrier. Had you done so, you would have quickly been corrected. Instead, it's the HEAD BALL COACH.

I've not at all a fan of his. I tend to think he feels that an OLD ball coach wouldn't be able to date college cheerleaders. The HEAD ball coach, on the other hand, has the ability/right to do so.

Any word on who the QB and RB transfers are Tupper hinted at? I can't find one QB transfer who hasn't committed elsewhere yet. There's one QB I can come up with who announced a transfer from Oregon State (started 7 games as a freshman) to NIU but then announce no. He seems to be staying now though at OSU. That's about the closest.

On the RB side, there's of course Derrick Green. From what I can tell, his release was unconditional. Be cool to get him for the headlines alone, but who knows who Tupper was talking about. It's pretty late for transfers

The ECU QB transferred to Virginia today.

Probably not him, but odd timing. He is following an ECU assistant coach to Virginia.

If that kid from down south last name Toney QB/ATH was waiting on an LSU offer. It probably won't be for QB. LSU just got a commit from a top recruit at QB

A lot of Illini offers mentioned on twitter today. FLA, Oklahoma

They are probably out of our league when see Alabama mentioned right after us. But I am going to be really excited when we land a highly ranked national recruit.

Isaiah Thomas would be a good fit as a speed DE it looks like.

RE: Computer Science program, as a student graduating from the program in 10 days  I'd be very surprised if they let a football player in. The program is bursting at the seams and is also really, really tough. I don't want to make assumptions about his grades or anything, but students getting in through regular admission processes are in the 3.8+, 34-36 range nowadays because of the status of the department in the CS world. I guess class times could work out so he could do football and CS, but I think that's about the length of where that marriage could ever actually work.

TL;DR - It's cool he wants to do CS, but I don't see that happening. Hopefully that's not a deterrent for him

It takes an incredibly rare individual to do both, but they have happened. Jack Ingram in engineering, Mike Hopkins was an astronaut and our AD did alright academically too (bronze tablet).
