The Possibilities in state look good with 2 kids that openly say they are talking with others.

Out of state. The QB/ATH Toney 4* from Bama would be a special player. His film is just ridiculous. On the short side somewhere in the 5"11-6"1 I've seen online. But the kid can play ball.

Seems like he wants to be at LSU if they offer and he already has offers from Florida, Ole Miss and South Carolina. Not sure what the connection is that makes us think we can land this kid, but you're right, he's got a heck of a highlight video. He's a righty, but he kind of reminds me a little of Steve Young the way he tucks the ball and all of a sudden he's got a low center of gravity and he's cutting and bowling over guys and he looks like a running back, not just a fast QB.

How bout the DE from Alabama who just visited? Not Bama caliber, but, still, he'd be a helluva get.

Alec Jackson? He's visiting this weekend. He's blowing up - Bama, Auburn, LSU, and other offers recently. He's most likely a kid those schools offer, but wait to take.

Here's his scout profile. http://www.scout.com/college/illinois/player/202032-alec-jackson

Yeah, he's the one. Hopefully, he falls in love w/the staff and the almost immediate playing time (versus being slow played by SEC schools). He's the type of guy you compete for B10 championships with. 3 star, lol.

A lot of the guys,it seems, who we have offered out of state we are going to be in a dogfight to get. The offers out are to some very talented kids.

Optimistic we'll land some of these kids. Very stoked about our staff.

Where is the best place to see a comprehensive list of ILL football commits? Not big on rankings, but it would be interesting to see how the commit list looks in April '16 vs April '15

It's a very short list. Give it some time.

Don't compare April vs. April. Compare February vs. February. That's when it matters.

I understand the commits become official in February. I was alluding to the fact that I think the volume of early "verbal" commits that we are starting to see will surpass anything since the beginning of the Zook era.

Maybe yes, maybe no. Some great recruiting staffs do their best work later in the process. My recollection is that that was often the case for Zook, actually.

Dalton Wagner is a nice player. Haven't heard much about his recruitment though

I want to say we got Rejus and Tez both at the very end of the recruiting cycle with Zook. We still have 9ish months until signing day. A lot of things can change before now and then, obviously...

The coaching level/intensity/detail between NFL and College is night and day IMHO. Just watch the Gruden QB Camp, he has been taking apart their game for years. Many of these bad habits were never recognized or corrected at the college level. Many players need to get Combine coaching to get them ready for the NFL combines because they were not ready for many of these drills or precision of the drills.

Having a team full of NFL coaches is going to be enticing to recruits and lead to better results on the field. I expect to see a much more discipline and esthetic team this year and years to come.

Is this really true? I love the fact that we have coaches with NFL experience as players and coaches, and can offer those insights to our players, but they have to go out and play COLLEGE football each Saturday afternoon. We didn't jump from the B1G West to the NFC North with the hiring of Lovie.
