The coaching level/intensity/detail between NFL and College is night and day IMHO. Just watch the Gruden QB Camp, he has been taking apart their game for years. Many of these bad habits were never recognized or corrected at the college level. Many players need to get Combine coaching to get them ready for the NFL combines because they were not ready for many of these drills or precision of the drills.

Having a team full of NFL coaches is going to be enticing to recruits and lead to better results on the field. I expect to see a much more discipline and esthetic team this year and years to come.

There are different techniques for different level of play. When you watch Gruden he is specifically talking about the NFL where the game will be played faster based on the players on the field. If you don't have three receivers running 4.3 or better, using some of the things he talk about will mess the timing up for the college game. The only thing great about NFL coaches on the college level is their connections as well as knowing what the end game should look like. Illinois is college football and hopefully the staff will coach a college team. If they don't adjust down, they will have the same problems High School coaches have trying to run college systems. Talent levels dictate technique.

Mike Phair has said on more than one occasion that essentially, football is football. He doesn't see the transition as any kind of big deal at all. And half our staff is NCAA not NFL. What I like is the level of competence of this staff. Vis a vis Beckman's first staff, couldn't even get plays called. Just by removing the Bozo factor, we win more games.

Right. Then, when our recruiting takes major strides (as ours clearly will), we'll win more games. Then, with our winning and buzz around the team, we'll get better recruits and win more. That's what we're looking at (even though we're in the nascent stage). Love, love, love it (even if I can hardly believe it).

Cox twins are good players. Does Leonard and Rochester have any good qbs coming through anytime soon?
You can pretty much plan on Derek Leonard producing good quarterbacks every couple years. I think his last 4 or 5 in a row have played D1, though not all as QB. However, there are none the caliber of Lunt imminent. Agree that the Cox twins are good athletes. Stallworth is tall and talented.

Is this really true? I love the fact that we have coaches with NFL experience as players and coaches, and can offer those insights to our players, but they have to go out and play COLLEGE football each Saturday afternoon. We didn't jump from the B1G West to the NFC North with the hiring of Lovie.
Right, the NFC north jumped into the B1G West. That's even better. I think the perfect example of the attention to detail is The Old Ball Coach when he jumped up to the Redskins. He was golfing most days at Florida and couldn't handle the 24/7 attention the NFL job needed. From everything I have heard about Lovie, is that he loves (no pun intended) that part of the job.

One twin is better, but both are good players. He will have a quality quarterback every year, but nothing coming up this year for D1 prospect.

It's crazy, I went to high school in Huntley's conference not that long ago, and they used to be cannon fodder in every single sport. That area has had a lot of population growth since, and now they're an athletic powerhouse in the Northwest suburbs.

Plus they're fighting with Marion Central for top talent.
