We have to get Carney. Early enrollee, can be a DE for spring practice, teammate of Green's, etc.
It is definitely early and Thomas, Carney, and Hafiz haven't committed to us, but it is really nice to see that Lovie and staff have the potential to build relationships and (hopefully) close them.
Difference I'm seeing with Lovie's staff:
Turner - If Ohio State/Michigan has ever talked to the kid, we can't get them so why bother. We'll take the lesser kids and hope for the best.
Zook - Go after the home runs hard, devote all the time and effort into them...maybe get one or two out of 20 then have to scrap to put together a class in final weeks when they miss out.
Beckman - Similar to Turner; however, the one major difference is Beckman would recruit players hard that never could get into school...his staff did not do enough homework on these kids and put resources where they were wasted....then complained that the reason they weren't successful was because of admissions.
Smith - They seem to not get in a rush, they seem to really do their homework and watch a lot of film not just looking at star rankings. They have offered multiple players with few scholarship (if any) offers. They look for fits in their system, have their top priorities that they build relationships with, then have their backups that they keep on the line in case they lose out on top guys.
....it gives me hope...but it is still really early, let's see how they close.
