if we couldn't get him, then I am happy oSu did
my son, a Sr there, just got home last Sat on semester break (they start school there in Aug a week before almost anyone else). He graduates as a Pickens Scholar in May. People here and people there always ask how did a smart kid from Hins Central end up there. Pretty easy to answer : they gave him a partial scholarship to start (50%), and gave him more last year as his grades were so good. But more importantly, the school admin , the towns people, and the parents of his fraternity brothers and the students are some of the BEST and NICEST people we have ever met.
The football gameday experience there is awesome, and they take the game seriously. There is no surprise at all when they land top rated commits. Yea, they find ways to get questionable kids in and have programs designed to keep them in, but that's the way it is at EVERY school that wants to win.
That school is a hidden gem. My son could not be happier with his time there so far. Grad school is next, and while not likely, he could be there 2 more years.
