Quite a few players on Indiana's commitment list that are intriguing to me, mostly because their commitments are strong in the areas most needed for Illinois (DT, DE, TE, S):

My choice of targets:

Caleb Jones (previous Illinois offer) - Offensive Tackle
Bryant Fitzgerald (previous Illinois offer) - Safety
Britt Beery - Defensive End
LeShaun Minor (previous Illinois offer) - Defensive Tackle
Lance Bryant (previous Illinois offer) - Defensive End
Derrius Mullins - Defensive Tackle
Kurt Rafdal (previous Illinois offer) - Tight End

Dont think we want Harris anymore after all of his commits/decommits. He is also a bit of a project. I'd stay away

Please no on Caleb Jones . Not even sure he could play guard the way he moves and not crazy on having a 6'9" guard.

I know here on Loyalty we have our theories about players committing and competing for a starting position - but Penn State (a major player for Quincy Patterson) just received a commitment from a 2018 4* dual-threat QB. Could be good news. Who knows though.

Could be.

QB talent tends to be much more equally distributed than other positions because only one can play at once.

Carmoni Green is on an official to UNC this weekend. Hopefully he holds firm to us.

Can somebody who knows more than me (not hard when it comes to football recruiting) put together a wishlist or our top targets so I can google some names and try to find some film?

Hoping Carmoni stays, obviously. Is anyone else publicly wavering? Anyone commits we're thinking definitely will end up somewhere else based on the direction their recruitment is going lately?

Thanks in advance, definitely not my area of expertise.

Robert at Illiniboard has a decent list: http://illiniboard.com/2017-recruiting-headquarters/

I will come back an take a whack at it later. The lists will vary a great deal as we each have our own opinion.
How old is Roberts list ? Seems old.

I saw this kid play in the state title game, and he was a man amongst boys. I'd love to see him in orange and blue. What's the feeling on whether or not UI has a chance here? I looked on 247 and all 4 crystal balls were for Iowa, but that was before the UI offer it looks like.

He's gotta get through the Iowa visit without committing, if he can then we have a shot.

He was pretty close to committing to Minnesota after visiting there in September but was advised against doing so, for some reason.

After Iowa offered all the CBs changed to Iowa, even from Minnesota insiders.

Just reading between the lines, I'd be surprised if he went anywhere else. Illinois waited too long to offer him and Iowa has shown him a lot more interest throughout the entire recruiting process.

The old staff put a lot of work in recruiting him but that all went out the window in March. They were probably pretty close to offering him.

That being said, we do get the last visit and maybe Lovie can sell him on early playing time. The new staff has been confused about which side of the ball they want him to play on, how good he is, etc. Our location helps and maybe Kendrick Foster can also play a role in this recruitment. This would be quite a recruiting victory if the staff can pull it off.

It's been stated that he wants to stay close to home. Can't get much closer than Champaign. Lovie can offer early playing time and being close to home. Let's hope that works.

Also looks like Illinois received a crystal ball pick for Owen Carney today from a Miami insider.

It's probably from mid to late October. It says that Kendrick Green has an Iowa offer and doesn't mention Johnson as recommitting to Texas A&M.

It's as good of a rundown as it out there, even if a lot of the information is dated. There are obviously a number of offers that went out in November and these targets are omitted (i.e. Estes).

We have to get Carney. Early enrollee, can be a DE for spring practice, teammate of Green's, etc.
