I like comps that fit a narrative :thumb:

Also, there is no rational thought behind this (but it's the internet...so why would there be rational thought?), but this quietness before the signing period actually makes me think we might get a couple of surprises to close out this class. I hope so at least.

As nerve wracking as it is to be so close to signing day with little information, I have to think that the staff is just playing it close to their chest. If they are, signing day could be a huge surprise. But if they are not, signing day could be a disaster.

I think that sums it up quite nicely. :thumb:

I haven't seen the RB Brock from Quincy play football but just saw him play Bball. He's quick and is very competitive. When they were down by 15, he single-handedly sparked a comeback that almost won it. His steal and slam dunk helped. He's a real gamer.

I would assume MJ Rivers is far far more advanced at this point. There is no comparison between Texas 5A and Illinois 5A. Different planets.

The staff has more confidence in Rivers than Taylor in regards to wrapping their brains around a playbook.

No dog in this fight, but the addition of Cam Thomas, Rivers, and Taylor are upgrading the position year by year. Will take time to get the team competitive as Lovie is literally building the talent pool from the basement. But you are seeing an upgrade in rankings, size, and depth.

I've never really looked at all our offers for a year before. Do we normally offer so many 5 stars or is this a new tactic?

Well, statistically speaking there is a very strong correlation between not making an offer and not getting a recruit. So there’s that.

Am all for taking the Cali QB. Normally, taking 3 QBs in one class would be ridiculous. But our QB situation is clearly shambolic. Let the cream rise to the top (starting in 2019).

Really hoping for a grad QB too.

Calcagno seems like a great PWO commitment. Like adding a free scholarship-level player to the roster.

Hearing Drake Davis of Naperville North -QB that just received a PWO offer from Illinois is expected to commit today.

I know the scuttle butt is Coleman is picking Arizona but this comment "The coaching stability and how I would fit in with the team for he next three to four years." says Illinois all day. Am I wrong here????

Arizona has a new head coach and their DC is returning for his third season with the team. Sounds like the same group Coleman has been dealing with, so stability and fit. Not sure that says illinois all day.
