New Head Coach....That is uncertainty is it not? Just saying in terms of stability, not sure there is a more stabil coach than Lovie right now. Plus, there is no doubt IL will be running Lovies defense without question. That is just how I see it

I know we can legally assign 25 recruits to the 2018 class.


I believe we have signed 18 already, and Coran Taylor is a hard commit as well. That leaves 6 to go.


re: the ones enrolled already, can any be assigned to last years recruiting class, thereby freeing up any spots for 2018 class ?


I know we can oversign by 3, but those 3 have to go to some class other than 2018 if the whole class gets enrolled as is.


Are we looking at 6 names tops on Wednesday ?

Sounds about right. Guessing Sims, Robinson, and Wyatt will take three of the six available scholarships. Leaves for some potential fireworks with the remaining three.

You forgot about adding Caleb Griffin and now Holmes committing, that's 2 less spots.

some names to keep an eye on are:

QB Brock Purdy
QB Matt Robinson
WR Manuel Allen (Don't know what's going with him)
WR Cadarius Gaskin
DT Michael Thompson
OLB Merlin Robertson
CB Isaac Taylor-Stuart
S Nikko Hall
S Dayven Coleman
ATH I'Shawn Stewart

Obviously of of these are leans to other schools but it still worth keeping on these guys.

Anyone else have to any other players to add to this list?

Griffin does not count against the numbers.

I believe the plan right now is Caleb Griffin will blue shirt and will therefore not be on the roster this fall, and will not count towards the 2018 class, rather will count as a 2019 recruit.


Taylor , and now Holmes, puts us at 20 signed/committed to the 2018 class


5 more to go....................unless Lovie wants to oversign up to 3, as many schools do, knowing that likely at least one player wont end up on campus come June, and if they all do, you end up making other allowed roster moves with blue shirt, etc.

I really like the 2 additions today & good news on Tolson!

The one big one that definitely will help our team is Robertson. I hope the staff did enough:illinois:

Lovie is building depth and getting better players. This class rated slightly higher than last year's solid class.

Great job with last two additions. The RB looks really good. Wonder if we will add grad transfers especially at QB.

Yes. I really like both Robertson AND Robinson the QB. Staff making nice inroads into Cali. I feel like Robinson is the kind of QB who would have had tons of high major offers if he were just a couple inches taller.

Let the competition begin! Rod Smith contributing quickly. It is still going to be tough next year but we are on our way!

The question seems to be more how much we will over sign by than if we will over sign. I'm hoping for all 3 over sign spots :D

I'm pretty sure that when you oversign, you still have to get down to 25 by the time the semester starts.
