I'm biased but I'd prefer Taylor. He'd be perfect for McGee's offense.

We have offered a number of QBs, including Zarrian Holcombe's brother, and it will be interesting to see if any of these guys commit anytime soon. Patterson is probably the main target but he has lots of offers.

I like how every play freezes and circles him at the beginning in case you have trouble figuring out which one is the QB. :D

So who do we think will be the first commit of the class? And when?

Coran Taylor would seem to be the obvious pick. 1) Downstate. 2) Staff likes him better than Patterson but Taylor doesn't have the offer list. 3) QBs commit early to reserve their spots.

I don't think it would back us off the other QB prospects though.

I would disagree, I think Patterson is the top target for QB (and could make an argument for the whole class).

Top target in the whole class is at IMG. Either Verdis Brown or Houston Griffith

I think they will find a way to get it to 22-23 scholarships. Here is my semi-realistic dream class. Sadly it doesn't have Houston Griffith in it because I think he OSU or ND bound.

Qb: Coran Taylor, Kaleb Eleby
Rb: Josh Fleeks
Wr: Kamryn Babb, Cameron Brown, Terrell Perriman
Te: Luke Ford
Ol: Marques Cox, Wyatt Blake, Bryce Effner
Dl: Trevor Trout, Verdis Brown, Elijah Teague, Jackson Perkins, Devin O'Rourke
Lb: Aaron Antoniou, Terrance Taylor, Ayodele Adeoye
Db: Anthony Cook, I'shawn Stewart, Dallas Craddieth, Greg Newsome, Samson Evans

That probably would be 8 four stars and 15 three stars and around a #20 class. We should and would be thrilled with class. Obviously this won't happen but I would like to see 6 or 7 of them

Patterson is the top target based on offer list only. Taylor would be the best fit for the Illini right now. He is a mobile QB that knows how to win. Potentially two state championships in his high school career. Knowing how to win for a QB is huge. Lunt, O'toole, Shellhouse, Baily were all state champions.

I do think Coran would be a great fit for McGee's offense, he is attainable, and he'd be a recruiter for the rest of the class.

Patterson would be a great sell to other recruits but don't think he's as much of a seller himself.

If you offered this class to me right now, I would take it instantly. I would even let you take a couple names off of that list and I would still take it.

TE Luke Ford is from Carterville, Illinois. Just down the road from Carbondale to the east. Ford is 6'6"/6'7" and is a stud athlete. He also plays basketball and I just talked to Jeremy Warner this morning on Twitter. Warner told me he was blown away by Ford. Several P5 schools are checking Ford out.

It's good to see some players from the 618 attract attention from the big schools. Kinda reminds me of Royce Newman out of Nashville. He was awesome.

I'd like to see Ford dress up for the Illini. Kid has great potential to be very good.

We really missed the boat on Royce. Hope he gets a chance at Ole Miss, but then again maybe he'll transfer back home. :D

Didn't see this posted anywhere, looks like we landed Stevenson DB Michael Marchese (brother to Jimmy) as a preferred walk-on. Best of luck young man.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/subur...-football-walk-on-tl-0209-20170207-story.html

The 6-foot-3 Marchese was a ballhawk on defense for the Patriots, collecting 94 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, three interceptions, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in a productive senior season. He also saw time as a wide receiver.
