Sweeeeetttt.
I also consider Myer a four star for those who care. One of the reasons I felt the class was on the up swing and getting on par with last years was because of Myer and Martin whom I am pretty high on as well. A couple more leans I like and we are there.
One thing seems to be becoming a pattern is a slow and lower beginning to the commits each season.

Just going by the 247 rankings, Avery is highest ranked commit for us since Aaron Bailey committed. Avery is currently the #190 player in the country while Bailey was #163.

Meggison was ranked just below Avery (#193 in the country).

To pick up a kid this highly ranked out of Texas is huge! Great job by Hayes-Stoker and the staff!

B1G time get for illinois football. Could this along with the new performance facility and on the field progress start the domino effect? I think so.

I've been pretty checked out this summer with such a long rebuild ahead but this commit gets my attention. I'm cool winning three games this year if the nucleus of a future contender is coming together. Avery is a player to build around, so huge for us right now.

I have been pretty surprised by how down I have been on the class so far. But this one really gets me excited. Hopefully we have the beginnings with last year and this of a good Defensive Line.

This is a huge pickup, and he appears to be an awesome guy. He wants to play with Lovie, and go to the NFL. He also knows we have one of the top engineering programs. He's a smart guy.

Beat TCU and USC for this stud. Somebody pinch me and wake me up.

I think that we now have enough mid to high 3 star guys to effectively sell a four star athlete on joining the class. When or who, I have no clue. It should be clear to all prospects that Lovie and staff will shape up a solid group of commits.

Luke Ford and/or Isaac Taylor-Stuart, your table is ready :illinois:

Avery works too ;) :illinois:

Its a Huge Get in many ways, but the biggest could be if it helps get us really hooked into this school. Getting 2 guys from there one would think it can only help get young men to give us a serious look, and that could really pay off big down the road

Lovie and Defense have always been linked together......where does a Defense always have to start? Up Front.

DE: Carney, Roundtree
DT: K.Green, Oladipo, Avery

Add in the other freshman for Depth.

Lovie is trying to make a statement. First evidence that change is coming is the huge impact/change to the DLine.

And really the main change we can see is the DL and the Massive Oline kids we are getting and still going after.

Such a massive pick up. Maybe this will get Luke Ford thinking he should jump on the train (I know, wishful thinking). Either way, I haven't follow football recruiting seriously in a while (last guy I really follow was Liuget). Hoping to get some excitement back into this team.

I am starting to mix the sugar in that orange kool aid.

Even with the set back to the offensive line(losing Watkins and Lee) I see this offensive line being a huge strenght maybe even as fast as next year. These running backs are going to have HUGE hole cause lovie n co are signing maulers and the incoming O linemen I really like as well.

The D Line is also going to be HUGE all 7 we just signed looks like they have the potential to be better than Phillips, Smoot, Clements n co!!! Gotta start in the trenches!!!

I love the RBs thats on the roster add that to the line and we will be very good at running the ball. Hell we even saw a glimps of it last year with Foster n Corbin. I think we only get better after this year(we will see a slight dip at the beggining of the year though)

This team and Lovies recruits are shaping up nicely......... I want to see some better Linebackers though.

We are in the mix for '19 teammate Marquez Beason. TX the favorite, but you never know:illinois:

The overall strength of the team next year is the linebackers. Outside of the Crouch and Dunlap, there is no position less equipped to handle an injury beside the OL. O line a strength in 2019? Probably. This year no way

Who else is starting at LB besides Watson?

My guess would be our strengths are at WR and RB

I would assume Phillips and then the best of Hansen/Jones/Williams/Harding.

We actually have a nice group of LBs to work with here. Jones had four starts last year while Hansen and Williams each had one.

I've heard that the staff really likes Hansen and that he's performed well in the first week of practices.

They've also moved Abercrombie to Weak-Side DE since we're pretty deep at LB.
