Using mean is inherently not the best way of calculating a small sample size (which 20 recruits is) due to outliers.
It would probably be best to compare mean and median.
This....
I'm just saying...need to look beyond only the total score.

Is Illinois still dead last in the B1G recruiting class rankings?
Out of curiosity, what are you basing this on? I find it hard to get a read on this kid one way or another. However, you can see in his recruitment video that he burned one of our letters so I really don't see why he
wouldn't put a hat on a table and not pick us. No big deal to me if he does that since he has obviously has the right to go wherever he wants
Luke Ford on Twitter:
"Top 5... #ILLINI #GoDawgs #WarEagle #GigEm #RollTide #NoOrder Thankful and Blessed#Lion4Life #CHS"
Is he including #ILLINI just to be nice to his home state? Are we Miss Congeniality? Re the quarterback situation: Ford would be looking at MJ Rivers--also Class of 2018--as a teammate. I'm not sure why we would be completely out of the running for Ford. I'm not holding my breath on any of the kids, but jeez, for us to snare an Alabama/Auburn offer? Roll over, Tide.
I don't know how others on the board feel, but I'm less interested in the 247 overall score than i am the average score per recruit. 247 gives points for quanity and quality, and I'm much more interested in the quality as our # of open scholarships, depth by position plays into the recruitment process/ class.
That being said, we are ahead of Rutgers, Indiana, and Purdue and within striking distance of Northwestern and several others.
FWIW, I wholly agree. One additional point (not directed at you): using these rankings/ratings as an absolute arbiter of a class is sheer folly. The best one can say is that the overall score gives a fair idea of how one fared.
I would add that once you get past the top three or four schools there is not a lot of separation between the rest. It then comes down to filling needs and coaching them up.
And at Georgia he'd be looking at Justin Fields or Jake Fromm throwing him the ball for the duration of his career. It's no comparison. MJ Rivers being his anticipated QB is a negative in that race, if anything. Putting us in his top 5 was a respectful gesture to his home state and nothing more.

https://twitter.com/_TMBoog go ahead and read through some of his recent tweets! There's no need for a cup check on this one.
I expect us to add Brown and Craddieth too. Things could really be turning a corner in recruiting right now.

Haven't been this excited about Illini football in a long long time.

The one thing that's really telling is that he's been on campus so many times. He wouldn't come here that often if there wasn't genuine interest. Illinois also wouldn't waste time on an in-home visit if they didn't think they had a chance here.
Just remember that you were excited. Next year will be a long grind with a low win total. Stay excited for 2019 and 2020. If some dominos fall this week it could be a very merry Christmas here in the UC.
I don’t know if this was posted already or not, another offer out to another DB, Terin Adams, CB. This guy has all the measurables you want in a corner. 6’0” 190lbs. 4.4 forty and 38 inch vertical.

We made his Top 4:

I don't understand why we had him on an official visit a couple of weekends ago and waited until now to offer him.
I'm expecting a bad year. We'll be starting freshman and sophomores. Can still be excited about this class though.
It looks like he is going to asu. Has someone heard different?
