We have 10 LOI's signed right now including Pearl. We are missing letters from:

Taylor-not signing today

Avery: I believe he signed, just hasn't processed somehow
Myers Same as above
Slaughter Anybody know anything here?
Rivers I really hope to hear from him during this signing period. He is one of the cornerstones of this class :illinois:

With Coran Taylor's ability to qualify being an issue, I wonder if that is the extra push needed to pursue a QB grad transfer. I've mentioned Sean White before but not sure about his off field issues, Arizona's Brandon Dawkins may transfer, and even a FCS guy like Devlin Hodges (passed for 4,000 yards past 2 seasons at Samford / recruited by UAB while McGee was HC) would likely be upgrades over what was on the field last year.

So I know this was originally going to be a small class, believe we had 17 spots. But 10 scholarship players transferred. Assuming we give maybe 2 to deserving walk ons, Walker being an obvious choice, we can sign a full 25 man class. Best case scenario in the next few days gets us to like 18 or 19. So can we pick up 7 more quality players to fill out the class between now and February?

I'm hoping for 4-5 quality guys and 2-3 where we take a flyer on them. If even one of the "flyer" guys turns out half as good as Bennett Williams, I will be more than fine with that situation.

I would assume that getting Adeoye, if we get lucky enough, would help us snag some other decent recruits

RE Penn State in recent years....

In the previous four years before James Franklin came to #PennState, PSU had 17 combined 4 & 5-star signees. In the four years with Franklin, the Nittany Lions have now signed 45 four and five-star recruits.

I was just watching the local Scranton news and they had a clip of Franklin talking about PSU’s recruiting. Ugh. Makes your head spin.

Regarding RJ Rivers, he’s been on Twitter saying Illinois is a dream come true. Don’t worry about him.

If Luke Ford doesn't sign during this early signing period, what kind of pitch do you think the Illini will make to him. We do have some things we can offer that the other 4 can't that are good for an individual player.

If I take off my Illini Hat....

It is nice to see other schools than Bama and O$U haul in all the 5 star kids.

PSU, Georgia, Clemson, Texas, LSU, killing it right now. Michigan fans are jumping off buildings with what they consider a poor class, etc...

Will be interesting to see where all these teams are in 3 years.

Today has been disappointing so far. The commitment class was not strong to begin with, and then Taylor and Slaughter did not sign (yet).

The Illini needed to pick up close to ten uncommitted kids or flips to finish strong, and that just has not happened. I hoped that we'd have close to 20 LOIs by the end of the day, but currently only 12?! The sleeper kid Brown looks like he has potential, but its a bit disconcerting that he had zero other offers (Bradenton not exactly off-the-beaten track). Craddieth, Anderson, Petersen, Gotay, Adams all went elsewhere.

The WCIA reporter on the ground in Texas reported that Myers and Rivers signed, but . . . where are the LOIs? We will hear from Adeoye in about an hour; he'd provide a BIG boost if he signs. Brown seems like an Illini lean, but we'll see. He'd be another big boost. I think everyone is dreaming on Ford and Robertson.

Not too many kids left on the board (as far as we know) after that. Lovie had his work cut out for himself before today, and has (so far) moved backwards if anything. How is this class going to reach 25 quality gets by February? I don't understand why the staff was yanking offers in the last couple days given what transpired today.

Crossing fingers for Adeoye.

I agree. And this has nothing to do with the players we signed. They all seem to be potential contributors from early on. I don't think one of the signees is a weak get by any means. But I was hoping we would snag quit a few more next level recruits.

OK, so I just noticed that Slaughter posted on his Twitter feed that he will be signing on Friday; I presume he will have a school ceremony. WCIA reporter says that Myers and Rivers signed, so I will take that at face value. That gives the Illini 15, not counting Coran Taylor (who I of course hope will still sign this week). He'd be 16. Brown could be 17.

IIRC, Illini can sign up to 25, and that includes the WR grad transfer.

So, 7 more rides available. I am happy with the quality of athletes who already signed, but we DO need MORE.

Per BTN earlier today, IL had signed 9 from FL, 3 from TX, 3 from IL and, 1 from CA. That gives us a total of 16, not counting the ones that sign from this afternoon to Friday. The football office may simply be respecting the wishes of signed recruits that want a ceremony at their given high school before their letter is released.

So Ill
I have to ask why you sign Sydney Brown and seemingly tell Kevyon Davis to take a hike. There is just no info on Brown.

Yep. And everyone at IMG remembers who he was ....

What? Made my point for me. Played at IMG, hard to get much more high profile than that and still no offers. I hope he's a great player, but don't tell me this was plan A, B,C or F for the staff, and if you don't think it's a coincidence that he commits right after Craddieth announces for Iowa idk what to tell you.

This all day.

A lot of butt hurt over Davis. Rather say bye now than in 1-2 years. Many moving parts, Illinois needs to get 85.0+ players to be competitive in conference. If you are N/A on ranking profiles and have no big schools offering, you should know your offer is tenuous at best.
