Anyone know what's up with Caleb Griffin, 2018 Kicker out of Danville? I see him listed as #12 ranked on one site but not having an offer from us. Just wondering because he seems to retweet every pro-Illini tweet from the 2018 class.

Last I knew he had a preferred walk-on offer from illinois and iowa. I believe his only scholarship offer is Bowling Green.

Trinity Catholic had something like 7 of those 19 players on that list? Most of who were in the Top 1000. That has got to be one hell of a dominating HS football team.

I would pay a good chunk of change to watch that team play another competitive team. Easily. Worth the money.

K/P recruiting processes tend to develop a bit slower than other positions. I wouldn't expect anything until February.

I think they played lutheran North last year, who has a comparable amount of talent. I believe North beat Trinity, but don't quote me there.. Those 2 teams have 50 to 75% of the top 20 in Missouri.

After watching the video that Werner posted on twitter of individual workouts at the UA All-American game, the expectations for the O-linemen shouldn't be super high. On the whole, the D-Linemen dominated the O-Linemen

Confused by your post....Avery is a DL and Verdis will also likely be playing DL for us. I will say that in this video, Verdis got worked while playing OL. Very limited sample size against incredible talent. Both guys are going to play early and often for the O & B. I haven't been this pumped about a duo of commits in a LONG time. They will be stalwarts in the trenches.

Watching Verdis very small senior highlights at IMG at OC and seeing this even smaller clip at this practice.....I have a very hard time believing Verdis moves well enough to play DL. At best- He looks like an interior OL guy.

not trying to knock the kid, but he doesn't look like a DL to me. Look at Avery- thats how you want to see a interior DL move. Verdis moves very different then Avery.

Calling it now.

Avery- Clearly DL

Verdis- OL/OC

How quickly things change. Just a week ago, it was looking like we may have a real chance to get a steal in Nikko Hall. With everyone re-evaluating their needs before the next signing period, today Florida offered, Nebraska making a push & may get a visit, and Tenn will get a visit.
Merlin Robertson hearing from several more schools also. At least, he's already scheduled an OV with us:illinois:

So basically we lost these two then.

I know Avery is a DL. Was talking more about Brown from the video and further extended Unije and the other freshman linemen. Seeing some of the best OLs get dominated in that video shows just how unready freshmen OLs are.

You do understand you were watching a 1 on 1 pass rushing drill right ? that Drill is pretty tough for an OL guy to look great at he isnt trying as much to run over his guy as he is just trying to keep them away from a spot. It also takes away any traffic so just speed itself makes the DL guys look way better.

I would say Verdis was 2/4 in those drills. The first 2 drills I would say he lost but he held long enough on the 3rd and clearly won the 4th. It is hard when you do not see the cone the DL is trying to reach however

I would assume the plan for Coran is to sign in February. He was all set to sign in December, but now has to wait. Probably just has to get his academics in order.

Jeremy Werner said on his radio show this morning that it is an academic issue that is holding up his signing. Smalling had a similar issue but he signed in February as opposed to December. This may have also been the issue that held Smalling out of fall training camp for a few days back in July/August?

Werner said that Taylor is in a better position than Smalling was but it's glaringly obvious that Irons is the back up plan if things don't work out.
