Dayven Coleman -

Jeremy Werner talked about him this morning on the Radio. Werner said Coleman is thought to be down to Arizona, Kansas State, and Illinois. With Rich Rod getting let go, this could be very good for Illinois.

Jeremy Werner said on his radio show this morning that it is an academic issue that is holding up his signing. Smalling had a similar issue but he signed in February as opposed to December. This may have also been the issue that held Smalling out of fall training camp for a few days back in July/August?

Werner said that Taylor is in a better position than Smalling was but it's glaringly obvious that Irons is the back up plan if things don't work out.

Smalling went to a private school. If it's course related, they have a way of making things work. If it's ACT related, not much you can do except call up Reggie Rose.

Seems like it's just a matter of time before Arizona is going to have to release their 2018 signed recruits. Guessing Illinois would make another attempt at Tre Adams.

Josh Jackson...former 2 star CB out of Texas just announced he was leaving Iowa for the draft (projected 2nd best DB prospect available)

Just thought I would share since we seem to be pulling 2-3 star kids from Texas.

I would pay a good chunk of change to watch that team play another competitive team. Easily. Worth the money.

They are playing the East St Louis Flyers next season. September 1, I believe.

Worth the drive from Cincy because there will be 3 good games that day.

That's what I've heard other sources say as well. Do you worry about a QB that has trouble making grades, being able to transition to B10 football on the field?

He said that he's made his decision:illinois::shield::chief:
No reason for this to change over the next 5 weeks, but yes recruiting is fluid

Watching Verdis very small senior highlights at IMG at OC and seeing this even smaller clip at this practice.....I have a very hard time believing Verdis moves well enough to play DL. At best- He looks like an interior OL guy.

not trying to knock the kid, but he doesn't look like a DL to me. Look at Avery- thats how you want to see a interior DL move. Verdis moves very different then Avery.

Calling it now.

Avery- Clearly DL

Verdis- OL/OC

Lovie has already said Verdis is starting out on the DL.

Hall, Robertson and Jackson are all Junipero Serra related guys (Hall's dad played there with David Williams and some have referred to Hall as Williams' nephew) and Hardy is working all of them.

It seems more likely that we get all 3 or none vs. some other combination.

If Hall is a longshot, so is Robertson etc...

They all seem headed in different directions on visits though, with only Robertson scheduled to visit us. Unless Hall and or Jackson previously visited I don't know

I've always thought that package deals are exceptionally rare. I think it is an extreme long shot that we convince any of these L.A. guys (all of whom have very good options closer to home) to attend a school on the prairie. I, of course, hope that Lovie proves me wrong.

I feel like all the Cali kids are pipe dreams. Hope I’m wrong but think none are coming to ILL

It's looking that way. After Jackson & Hall had told the coaches they would visit in Jan, now it appears neither of those will happen. And all of the buzz with Robertson is to ASU since they hired Antonio Pierce. Hopefully, Hardy & AHS can sway him this way on his OV this weekend:illinois:

Yeah, really tough to compete with ASU now that they've matched what is perhaps the Illini's top selling point: a heavily African-American staff with loads of NFL experience.

ASU stomps all over us on location, weather, facilities, easier academics, recent recruiting, record over the past 20 years and . . . girls.

I'm not holding my breath on him coming here, but man would that be a fantastic surprise. And then if we could follow that up with a get of Robertson.

Four 4 star recruits in one class?! Is that even legal?!
