There was a strong belief after Williams committed that he would bring 3 or 4 teammates with him. It's starting to look like there is a real possibility that zero TC players join him in the O&B
I assume that belief came from the Patterson hire

Just wonder if this decision was mutual. Lovie likes long/tall players. We also hired a new OC.

Add in the existing transfer rules with the new RS rules and getting players not happy at top tier programs becomes much more likely.

No clue what's behind the Childress decommit, but we can vastly solidify our argument that we are making tangible progress with a few more wins.

As long as Isaiah stays true we will be good. I'd love to add Shammond and Ira Henry. Mookie Cooper and Frenchie look great as well. The way Bush ran yesterday just gets me giddy to thinking about Isaiah Williams next year with this line having another year under their belts. Alegretti will be tough to lose but hopefully Larry Boyd will be back and ready to play. Future looking bright to me and my orange glasses.

We desperately need WRs and what you wrote isn't really correct. We offered Tutu Atwell last year as well, who is currently at Louisville and he's 5'7 at best. This was after we landed Carlos Sandy.

I think your comment is more applicable to the CBs we recruit. Lovie is pretty hands off when it comes to the offensive personnel, for better or worse.

At WR, I don't think we really have a type. We have slot WRs and possession WRs. We need both as Dudek and Mays will not be back next year. We also only took 2 WRs in the last class so we need as many P5 WRs as possible.

This isn't a Cordell Littlejohn situation where McGee saw him play in person and pulled the offer. Rod Smith was at the Trinity Catholic game during the BYE week and it's unlikely he saw something that we haven't seen before. Bryce has been to camps and made visits here plenty of times so we knew what we were getting.

The recruiting in St. Louis is just getting brutal. There is so much negative recruiting going on. Something tells me that a lot of Missouri people are getting to him which is why he backed out.

Get Ali Jennings and Rajae Johnson. We have to get at least 4 WRs in this class.

Childress is 5'8". You can have a few of those guys on your team but with Kyron Cumby being faster, more explosive on offense and Joseph Thompson being similar at DB ... not sure he wasn't redundant on both sides of the ball for this class?

The RichRod offense has always used a lot of undersized WRs, so taking both him and Cumby wasn't an issue.

It's not the end of the world, but you really can't spin this as a positive, especially with him being a TC kid.

Not his Illinois recruiting coach & there lies the problem. Why go somewhere when you're ignored? College coaches who hate recruiting need to wake up.

Any coach in particular? Thought we were passed this after getting rid of McGee. I'd be shocked if Cory is ignoring his former players and Rod was just at Trinity last week.

Finally put two and two together. Nu Nu washington’s Nephew is Bryce Childress. There were some cryptic nephew tweets from Nu Nu a couple of weeks ago. Now it all makes sense

Oklahoma fired their defensive coordinator, mr mike stoops. article . soooo does this potentially hurt their chances with Shammond??

Not Illinois related but Kansas just lost half of their recruiting class:
Thought it was interesting, Wisconsin told him they needed a yes or no answer on the official visit. That’s one way to efficiently use resources!

Hopefully we finish the season strong both with recruiting and wins. What burns my hide this year is losing key recruits to ISU, Minny, and Iowa. We have such a good running game and lost out on Brock. We lost a local player Bargy to Minny. Several others in-state players we lost to non-bluebloods. We can mitigate some of these with transfers and out of state players but I thought this year we would win these battles.

The RB we pulled out of Texas (Crumby?), is far better than Brock. Pray that we can hold on to him ('cause big offers from closer to home schools are coming).

Kyron Cumby. Yeah, really hoping we can keep him because he could be the most underrated recruit in this incoming class. Olympic class speed isn't something you find very often.

I like these quotes from that article, "Cumby is also a great pass catcher and could see some time in the slot at Illinois. Keep in mind that he trains with former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Margin Hooks, so he worked on being a receiver for most of the offseason. Cumby is your ideal scat back that can move around and be a bit of a Swiss army knife."

This sounds like exactly the kind of player that Rod Smith could take advantage of (like a Tarik Cohen type). Also, is there any Buccaneers connection between Nickerson and Margin Hooks?

Pretty sure ahs has been a big part of the Texas recruiting where they have done well.
Are you thinking this because of receiver recruiting- Childress decommit and Massey miss? I think each staff member lead in regions, position coach is not the primary recruiter.

I should clarify. AH-S wasn't the recruiting coach in Childress' case, as much as he was the future position coach. The committed recruit simply wanted his future WR coach to reach out on occasion but never heard from him. He (& his ego) felt neglected & wanted to look elsewhere.
