The portal.

Interesting situation with the portal...

If you enter the portal, your team no longer has to renew your scholarship.

If you enter the portal and then get injured in the bowl game, you technically could be left without a home after the bowl.

Therefore, if you want to go pro, you sit out. If you want to transfer, you sit out. It will be interesting to see how this impacts bowl rosters.

are players limited to one "free" transfer while an undergrad ? seems like there are guys moving every year and not having to sit out

Who would enter the portal and still play in a bowl game? Can’t see any coaches letting that happen

Do they get one as an undergrad and then can do it again as a grad transfer? Or does it not matter when?
as a grad student, they can move more than once without having to sit out .
many guys graduate from undergrad with 2 years of eligibility left - mainly due to covid . but not necessarily

As i thought likely to happen, my guy JT Daniels entered portal. Looking for school #4. one, possibly two years remaining.

when he was at SC and Georgia, even early on at WV, he looked pretty good. Could we be a landing spot? I personally think he'd be good for the Illini

quicker release and throwing motion than leary
Reading your description of JT Daniels reminded me of an acquaintance/friend I worked with off and on in my first 3-4 years in the workforce. He showed me his resume for advice and I said, "I wouldn't hire you". I know it's not the same, but it just made me laugh at the memory.

The portal window is 45 days long and will end on January 18, 2023. Never know the situation as some guys might get more exposure in a Bowl game and even make it a highlight reel along with the other games they played before. There are a ton of players in the portal. It would give certain players less time but I always thought if they wanted to play the Bowl game and not sure about future than do it. Play the game and if you wanted to enter the transfer portal afterwards than majority of guys would have 20-25 days of the portal time left with some in the in the 10-15 day range. If you get hurt in the Bowl game, than you never entered the transfer portal and still under scholarship at your current school. Majority of these statments are for guys that want to play the Bowl game for various reasons.

With Brohm leaving Purdue, any kids in their class we could potentially flip?
I would honestly expect a lot of them to follow to UL. But UL also has a good class so Brohm might get to do some selecting

I think Purdue is more of a situation where you're committing to the staff rather than the school for most. So they really need to get the hire right to keep most of the class. I've heard a lot of the current team will be coming to UL
