Uh, as the other poster alluded to, you don’t need to add seats. The Horseshoe is hideous and a comical distance from the end zone. It’d look infinitely better to have ZERO seats there and just a structure. As for capacity, there shouldn’t be any seats underneath the balcony overhang … no new stadium does that. All that capacity should be shifted to the SEZ whenever this badly needed renovation takes place.

I’ve taken multiple friends to Memorial Stadium who aren’t looking at it through O&B glasses, and their reactions are literally all exactly the same. They think it’s beautiful as we walk up, and that shifts to “meh” once we’re inside, specifically calling out the Horseshoe as an eyesore.
Same, I take friends and the first two things, why are the students on the moon and also maybe there could be more room for the push-ups after a touchdown.

I'll put up a counter argument. We've had a pair of tickets in the horseshoe since 1961. We sat there for a number of years. When we could afford better seats we got them but hung on to the pair in the shoe (because they are cheap [currently $99]}. We use them for guests a few times a year (kids, grandkids and now great grandkids). If we don't use them that way we try to find someone to give them to even if it means giving them away as we walk to the stadium. When you sit there you find a number of families with young kids. They may not be watching the game, but they are there. I imagine a number of fans got their start there. If not for those cheap tickets they may have never started following the Illini. Now, if we can renovate and still sell those tickets for $99 then count me in but I suspect that renovation will carry with it a steep increase in ticket prices.

You can always do what Colorado State did with an empty endzone, add a beer garden.

Mr. Tibbs

southeast DuPage
is he likely second string ?
or a real decent chance at starting ?

Harper will probably start, but who knows? Hill is good and makes the room better. 3 more years of Hill and Griffin, I like it. Plus, Bailey has 3 more years too. Solid is the floor.
Last year sometimes there were 3 safeties on the field aka Bailey package. Guessing we see it this year also.

I’d lean towards this as well. Like I said earlier, grabbing a freshman AA is a no-brainer. That said, his coverage grades are fine for a freshman but were underwhelming for a starter. You can assume he got a boatload of snaps at 18 and he’s likely to progress in ‘23 but I’m guessing he gets snaps among the rest of the contenders instead of obvious starter.

Feel like BB and staff are straight shooters and told Hill he fits the mold of the secondary we are building perfectly and wants him on this roster. Sooner you get in the better because you can contribute right away.

Bailey is flexible and can play either safety spot....Hill is recruited at FS spot. Plenty of reps to go around being named as a starter or not

There will be playing time for all, every season a player has to take series or games off due to injury or other issues. Being second string on the secondary is like being a starter*. Look at how many of our 2nd/3rd stringers got to play although we had one of the best secondaries in the nation.
