Cmon man! It’s PJ and the metallic golden lids.

Who, come to think of it, I believe I saw open for The Replacements at Mabel’s in ‘86.
Ha, great show! ... back when Mabel's was pulling in some pretty amazing acts for its size.

It’s not as much of a long shot as people think … We are top 2 for him from what I’ve gathered and he and family are going to give Charlie and Bret a chance to sell … They LOVE Charlie … They see Gabe and what he did and they hear what Charlie plans to do with Keith and Newton and Gabe … And they know Marquise will start Day 1 here vs go to Ohio State and you’re riding that pine for at least a year … 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also doesn’t hurt when guys like JJ Watt, Hasson Reddick and Chandler Jones reach out and tell the kid to trust Charlie … 😂

Jeff J has been touting the 2025 class as an all timer. 5-7 top recruits getting heavily recruited by SEC schools we havent seen a while -- until they start to transfer to IMG of course
Unfortunately that's going to bring every Tom, Dick and Harry recruiter into Chicago. No one claims Chicago anymore, Notre Dame used to. Illinois now has a shot.

Hopefully Bullen is plenty happy in Champaign. I feel like he is a major upgrade from Kane and that is TOUGH to do. His resume on who he has coached and the results speak for itself. The job coach B has done with attrition on his staff is amazing. Cant wait for the football season!

GMAB. The Chicago area has always been a hot bed of recruiting. WRT ND, they've recruited the top kids very well (especially the Catholic League), but owned it? Nope. Nobody does.

🤡

Chris Zorich, George Streeter, Stan Smagala, line em up, all late 80’s to Notre Dame
Oliver Gibson, Bryant Young, Pete Bercich, Renaldo Wynn, line em up, all early 90’s to Notre Dame.
All the top recruits out of Chicago.

Quite a few others to list as it’s a long list. Notre Dame dominated the Chicago area. Took who they wanted.

Simeon Rice – Notre Dame didn’t want him.

Question for the group....

Is it more likely our next commit will come from the large group that visited last weekend OR from the next big weekend in June?
I have no information at all to back this up, but I think from the next big weekend. It will be interesting to see if Illini get a couple commits after that weekend, if it spurs some movement from the earlier group.

Surprised the Konkel kid from Pinckneyville hasn’t committed. Looks like he dropped Michigan State and Indiana, and it’s down to Illinois and Pitt now.

Werner said on his podcast that all of this was new + interesting to Konkel so he was pretty likely to take some visits and soak it in. Also, still think he plans on visiting MSU this weekend.

JMO - I would take all 6 trips as a JR.

Nothing like being wined and dined.

Unless I was a 4 or 5 star I would not wait till SR year to commit because the transfer portal means less scholarships are available to HS players.
maybe slightly less scholarships available in the P5, but maybe more available in G5.

A lot of the trasfer portal is musical chairs, but I would agree there is more movement of G5 players to P5, thus maybe less scholarships available to prep players on the rosters. But dont forget there are plenty of players in the portal that get shut out altogether. Those net empty spots then get filled by prep players across D1

I would think the G5 programs end up needing more prep players to fill up the roster for the net loss of the players who left vs came in

How so? Each portal kid results in an opening at the previous school. Sounds like a wash to me.
overall across all D1, maybe even more schollies available as some players in the portal get shut out, and in previous years they likely would have been taking up a roster spot as 4th string somewhere
