We need a go to WR, a couple of good OL, a good DT and a good pass rusher. One or more of those may already be on the roster but if not will need to go get them in the portal. If we can do that I think we can talk about another 8-10 win season.

At this point it's not unrealistic at all to say it's 50/50. If not, probably more on that side. We're not the biggest $$ school and we know that. Shouldn't come as a surprise.

Ok I guess jc Anderson could also be a olb

Altmyer most likely isn’t going to be in the NFL so he has one more year of playing football for money. He should hold out for whatever he can get assuming any degree he gets holds equal value. He may have already graduated so even more likely he hits the portal

Luke is easily the best passing QB we've had in like 15 years right? Scheelhaase had the 3.3k yard season but turned the ball over a bunch in a system not made for him.

Don't think I can remember the last time we had a QB actually develop substantially each season.

Yes. The Scheelhaase argument is Illinois screwed around during his sophomore and junior year and didn’t lean into his strengths. Nate was around during some really crappy staffs.

It’s not even close. Nate had really only one season even close to this Altmyer one, his 2013 season, but he had a lot more interceptions and had a lot of counting stats because we threw so much. Efficiency wise Altmyer had the best season since Kittner.

hmm, gonna wade into this gently but depending on how youre defining efficiency, can easily make an argument for Tommy Devito. the fact that he did that in his only season here is also impressive. had better comp % than LA, KK or NS

but yes, Luke is fantastic and is leaving a very different imprint on the program at just the right time
