hmm, gonna wade into this gently but depending on how youre defining efficiency, can easily make an argument for Tommy Devito. the fact that he did that in his only season here is also impressive. had better comp % than LA, KK or NS

but yes, Luke is fantastic and is leaving a very different imprint on the program at just the right time

Our favorite Italian was VERY efficient 10 yds and in but not on 30 yard back shoulder fade routes to PB or ZF. I knew what you meant though. Can’t disagree with your logic.

Since Scheelhaase, the QB position was very lean. Had a lot of expectations with Lunt and Peters, but didn’t prosper under the staffs at that time.

What I like about BB and Lunney, they’ve identified QBs that come in seamlessly from the transfer portal. Devito, Paddock, Altmeyer.

No more Chayce Crouch, AJ Bush, Jeff George Jr, types being recruited anymore.

I'm not even sure how this makes sense. Wouldn't the athletic programs have to be business entities completely dissociated from said college for this to happen? From a legal perspective, they'd almost have to be for-profit institutions for something like this to happen, wouldn't they? I just can't see that happening at almost all universities as they'd lose things like tax privileges. So, what does that even leave? A school like Grand Canyon University? Maybe a school like Lincoln Tech or University of Phoenix if the NCAA would even allow them to join?

To me this seems more like a theoretical business discussion than an actually viable scenario unless you're gambling on law changes, but hey, billionaires get rich for a reason

FWIW I was with two coaches that have played Carson Boyd the last two years and said if his height started with a 6 he would be a top 100 recruit
Our QB room's in uncharted territory since Juice vs Eddie after that miz game. Think it speaks volumes on the job that Bret's done here... Might not see it with bs recruiting rankings, but our floor has risen from bottom to top on the field. Keep building this and we won't just be a wanna be basketball school.... Soo much more potential!

Put on some weight and learn to make more than one read and he will be successful. Luke might be 6'1 at best. Russell Wilson is ~5'11 and the best QB that Bret ever coached.

It’s not even close. Nate had really only one season even close to this Altmyer one, his 2013 season, but he had a lot more interceptions and had a lot of counting stats because we threw so much. Efficiency wise Altmyer had the best season since Kittner.
I don't remember Nate's arm being particularly strong. Seems like his passing success was in short to midrange throws. Keep in mind, my memory is not particularly strong either.

I’ll take a 5’11” Dillon Gabriel type anytime. Size certainly can be a factor, but if someone has the right skill set clearly they can overcome those disadvantages.

Boyd’s floor might not be as high as some QBs, but his ceiling is high. Much of it depends on the offensive scheme that is used for someone with his skill set, taking size into consideration. Doubt the Illini would have signed him unless they thought he would be a good fit.
