They were a charter member of the Upstate 8. I never needed to cover any events out there, but imagine the drive from Lake Park HS

I still remember my older Brother (circa 1985) and the Dixon Dukes traveling to play the Bards on one of the only turf fields in the area at the time.

I think DeKalb is fine to call Chicagoland/area. Hour and fifteen isn't the worst. It's close enough to 88.

There are some spots in the middle of the 88/90/39 triangle that feel like they're in a whole different spot of the state, though. Gotta drive a bit to get to any major highways.
