Great to see all the positive news. I appreciate all the updates and latest info from all our insiders. Always makes for an exciting offseason, when our insiders seem happy. My guess is that comes directly from how they know our coaches feel about our team. Cheers to all of the insiders for sharing what they know!

Agreed -- the advanced knowledge is head & shoulders above where things stood 5-6 years ago. Kudos to those with such insights!

I say hey how about linebacker/safety like a roamer..? Heck we've had guys do that for one year in this defense and get drafted.,..If they fed him a big bowl of tenacity just think what 6 ft 3 in 250 lbs speedy monster could do in this defense

I wonder if there is any interest in the ISU Linebacker Tye Niekamp?

I agree, super excited with where we're at and going. We've got to keep pace with IU...They're reloading too. #'s 25, 29 and 37 ranked transfer portal dudes signed already. Crazy what they are building over there as well. It would be wonderful to see Illini and IU playing for a B10 title every year :)

I’m guessing the oline is set

RT- Taylor, Knapik, Washington
RG- Henderson,Hansen
C- Renfro, McMillen
LG- Matelau, Tuerk,
LT- knapik, Martin

Had a day to think about this:

- As a Schuster stan, I'd want him starting at RT compared to the other options (with the large caveat that he's healthy). Staff seems to like him.
- If Micah doesn't crack the two-deep, I'll be surprised (and assuming he's transferring next offseason).

My assumption:

RT - Schuster / Taylor (camp battle)
RG - Henderson / Smith
C - Renfro / McMillen
LG - Matelau / Hansen (camp battle)
LT - Knapik / Stewart (or Knapik if Stewart has already been kicked inside)

At a minimum, if one of the non-Henderson holdovers from the current roster doesn't secure a starting job then we need to stop letting the staff talk about how the two-deep is much improved and/or there are more non-starters that the staff trusts to play for a third offseason. I'll preface that by saying if the younger Knapik keeps the starting LT, I want to point out that he was not one of the expected "he's ready to play" guys mentioned during last camp or early in the season with the JC Davis injury. Guys like Hansen, McMillen, Tuerk, Stewart need to impress.

Just from personal experience and opinion, I feel like the likelihood of injury is increased the more space ypu have in between collision. Close up collisions seem to lack th.e explosive power that collisions do in space. Im 38 and still playing in the trenches every year since 6th grade with 1 labrum tear and a bicep tear my whole life. I think if I had the speed to play safety I would've hurt myself more.

Looks like we have ten more days of excitement (and 15 more days for players still in the CFP), but I am ready for some more signees!

Bring on some players, Bret!

Exactly.....thats kind of what im saying...just call him a LB

It feels like every other RB in the country is in the portal.

I want one. Evan Dickens, Wayne Knight and Cam Cook are available. Get one of these guys.

No mention of Houser in their list of "Top 20".
He must be under the radar.
QB to me, is all about fit. Not only talent, but how we want to run our offense. I'm excited to see a QB, who is coming back to a league he feels he has something to prove. The #1 rated QB might be the style, run/pass wise, that a team would have to revamp their whole offensive scheme and style to take him, which is why not every team wants the "#1" QB . Not saying this guy is the next Jeff George for Illinois, but I will say In Coach B I trust. Something about this kid...he seems to play with a chip on his shoulder and is a slinger. Sign me up.

Has Schuster played more than 5 snaps in the big 10. I’m sure Champ will be in the 2 deep and play on special teams. I just forgot to add him. Also Stewart is still like 360lbs so I don’t see him at LT
