I tend to hate floor/ceiling talk. Like a pet peeve or something. People talk like its a fact. It bugs me because, obviously, the floor and ceiling is always winless an undefeated. I feel like maybe there just needs to be better terms.

That's fair. I tend to use the term with the assumption that we're talking reasonable expectations for a team. but i can understand how it can be interpreted as a statement of absolute fact, which is impossible to determine.

This is all too much, I feel like the nut punch is coming any minute....

I know it's not, but I can't shake the feeling, I've been conditioned.

I was disoriented earlier today I nut-punched myself, just to get my bearings.

A little off topic but certainly related...I've heard mentioned that the facilities are sub-par. Are there any plans to improve that area?

Michigan's over/under was 7.5 last year. They won 10, not to mention the MSU game they won except didn't.

Really good coaching matters.

And Michigan had a lot of returning players last season, like we do this year.

But, yes, coaching absolutely matters. As does a veteran roster. We'll have both next season. When was the last time that happened around here?

Confidence does too. The players should be a much more confident group with Lovie at the helm.

Rumor Holecek has been offered LB position. He knows all the coaches in Illinois and the players would love him. We need to keep some young bloods on the staff.

Why Holecek as LB coach when I thought Nickerson was going to be DC and LB coach.

Kinda like if OCs are normally QB coaches as well.

I could be way off. Just thought the OC/DC positions always had positions as well to coach.

Nickerson can solely focus on learning from Lovie and not worry about coaching up the LB's. Let someone else do that, ala Holocek

Just depends however you want to break down the 9 available assistant coaching spots. Seems we'll have...

OC/QB
OL
WR

DC
DL
DB

So we have 6 spots seemingly filled, and can now fill the remaining 3 with a combo of RB, TE, LB, and ST. RB and LB are usually seen as 'recruiting' positions. Lovie can hire someone to come in a coach LBs, but Nickerson will likely work with them, and the LB coach will do a lot more on the recruiting side.

Hope that helps.

Okay so I've been following this like all of you guys--literally CANT GET ENOUGH. Everyone around me that is Illini fans seem positive about the hire but no one is remotely as excited as we are on here. Is it possible that we are maybe overreacting? I mean getting our two coordinators is just huge but no one seems excited to the levels we are.
