Those are nice shirts, I can live with this script on the helmets and would absolutely embrace it (even if only) as an endzone logo.

My predictions (I am just some rando on the internet)-

1. Bielema loves orange, so expect an all orange look among the jerseys
2. Nike will eventually convince Illinois's brass to do another Gray Ghost jersey, but one with more orange. Bonus silver was one of the original colors of the school.
3. Dark horse: Nike may look at copper like as in a penny with Lincoln on it as potential alternative color, though I might being influence by the look of Springfield Lucky Horseshoes however it would be more like a proof coin. Think the liquid gold helmets of Baylor from a few years back.

The reason I like it so much is not just that it looks cool (it does) or that it’s not another “I” (it isn’t).

The reason I like it so much is that you pretty much can’t look at it without your brain thinking “I-L-L. i-n-i”

It takes what is probably our strongest school culture identifier in the post-chief era and turns it into a graphic you can’t not see with your eyes. Total brilliance.

The hoops jersey script Illinois looks WAY better, that looks really funky and I cannot imagine it on a helmet. Kinda looks like 'LLLini'

It's because the ini is too tiny compared to the ILL. I think if they adjusted that and made the tail on the I stand out more, it'd be better.

That being said, it's better than the block I and I think it'll look great on a helmet

They were selling sweatshirts with that logo back in the fall at UIUC Bookstore. I would be stunned if they shared a focal point of a new rebrand months and months before unveiling the uniforms. My guess is that it has nothing to do with what is on the uniforms.

That being said I LOVE that sweatshirt and I wanted to get one but they sold out.

Agree here 100% on the script being better than the block I, and I think a script 'Illini' would be amazing, as long as the 'ILL' and 'INI' were not such different sizes on a helmet.

That said, I am sure whatever they do, if they do anything, will look great and better than what we have.

I was an ardent Whalers (WHA) fan in my youth in the '70s. Their pre-NHL jerseys just rocked:

The Nordiques (which @GrayGhost77 mentioned) are up there, too, IMO, as are both progenitors of the NJ Devils, the Colorado Rockies and Kansas City Scouts:

Cleveland Barons, too (the relocated California Golden Seals. Lasted two seasons in Cleveland and then were folded into the Minnesota North Stars.):

I love the script but think "Illinois" looks much better in that font than just "Illini". Plus I had heard for years they were trying to not have Illini by itself without the Fighting there too. FIGHTING ILLINI would look great in script in the endzones but would have a bit too much of a Ragin Cajuns look on a helmet

I thought BB made it clear that the helmets we wore this year were going to be the helmet of the future. He came up with (or strongly endorsed) the design.

I think consistency between sports with that badass script (on the basketball jerseys) would be great!

yea, that is kind of how I recall it.
I would be surprised if they changed the main primary helmet.
Now an alternate helmet ? maybe I still think the disparity in the size of the ILL and INI needs to be reduced a little
